Anything by Knights arm. or Nighthawk (I don't know if I would ever actually USE it though, for fear of scratching it!) .....but a modified Kimber Warrior is doing the job currently.
I moved to Florida from Massachusetts so I know how TKC feels. Six months after I moved to Florida, I took a class and applied for my CCW and got it 3 weeks later. My first gun was an HK USP Compact Tactical .45 acp. My second gun was a Kimber Eclipse Target II 1911 .45 acp. I absolutely love my Kimber 1911. There's no better trigger than a 1911 trigger and it shoots better than I can. Someday, I'd like to replace the MIM parts with Wilson or Ed Brown parts.
Kimber Custom 2. I didnt want the extra thumb saftey, it killed the lines of the gun for me and its not for carry so im not worried about the saftey issue. Its a sweet gun.

Does anyone have any experience with the Springfield Armory Professional 1911? I called my local fun shop and they said it is a 4 to 6 month waiting list for the pistol. Is it worth the wait and how much do I need to save up? :broke:
Auto Ordinance GI model. At the time, the only customization I'd done to it was a Wolff 18.5 lb recoil spring, the biohazard grips, and a Gunsite low profile safety. I've since added a drop-in Wilson beaver-tail and commander style hammer, Swenson trigger, and upped the recoil spring to a 20 pounder. (I loves me some +P loadings...) :whee:

I owned a Kimber Custom CDP II for a couple years. 1911's are nice and extremely dependable handguns but what a pain in the @$$ to clean!! The 1911 was the standard sidearm issue for most of the time I was in the Army. Not that I was ever issued one, but we did get to fire them often. So between the years I had contact with it in the Army and the years I owned my Kimber I had a decent amount of experience with 1911's. After a couple years cleaning the Kimber I said to hell with it and sold it then bought a Glock! Now I go fire, spend 10 minutes to clean the Glock and it's clean. I guess if I were more of a collector I would be more interested in 1911's but I'd rather spend more time shooting than cleaning. parawolfe
I have a Kimber and a Springfield 1911 both are difficult to clean, but it is woth it for a reliable, accurate pistol.
I have had several colts in various configurations. One I kept and carried for 15 yrs I traded away a few months ago. God I miss that lil gun. Bought it new for around 500 bucks, shot thousands of rounds thru it, carried it with permits from 4 different states. Traded it off for an xd, shotgun, three bulletproof vests, two tac vest, forty ar-mags, three sets of goretex raingear, kevlar helmet, two surefire centurions, and three pairs of boots. Yeah, the guy really really wanted it. I still think he got a pretty good deal.
