On the largest auction site in the world, there is a Surefire (porcupine) listed at $9,999! Help me understand this. Saw another one for $999!

Very rare flashlight, from a collectible company, limited run, apparently never released in the US, discontinued, "signed" by its (famous) designer with the "PK" logo ...

(URL with additional info edited/deleted to avoid deal spotting concerns)

Original release price (2005) was ... (edited/deleted to avoid deal spotting concerns)

Collectors' limits could be very insane, sometimes.

    Quoted for truth.

Let's face it - priorities vary wildly based on individual wants, needs, and desires. You don't even have to be talking about collectibles - look at what some people will spend on a flashlight: I've spent $200 (give or take), whereas other people think I'm insane for spending more than $10.

20$ is the max for me, honestly.

This light may look cool, but at that price, a young used car is a better deal.
    Collectors will be collectors, though.

Maybe if it performed like it looked - a lightsaber.

otherwise, all that knurling looks uncomfortable.

Does it use dragon blood fuel cells? how wasteful.

I think it's worth taking the word "collectible" with a grain of salt regarding technology goods. Having an original Jobs-built Apple computer will buy you a Lambo but 99.99% of other archaic computers are just in a landfill somewhere.

On that topic there are plenty of hand-built exotic lights that are a fraction of the price of a new Nissan Versa. Plenty of others customs you can buy for the price of a decent espresso machine. Turned in ti, Cu or brass. That said, I respect Surefire as a brand but am not a collector so my obsession is linked to a very small budget for them.
