Wood, Metal, Acrylic Skull Beads (Plus Other Carvings!)

    Totally AWESOME! I'm not into skulls but I am into crafting (I use wood). Did you use a Dremel tool to shape the bead and polish it? ... WOWEE!

    I use a dremel to shape and carve. I use an oscillating tool to cut the metals (they are soft and gummy so cutting wheels get clogged up).

    Final sanding is by hand using 220 though 12000 grit pads. Then a final buff with green rough.

    Safety is a vacuum, dust mask, face shield, safety glasses, and a jacket. The wood dust and metal splinters are pretty messy.

    Came home from a job interview to some new beads from Fred!

    These are in the Psychedelic material, are are specially fitted to fit the sampo swivel:

    In a stroke of absolute brilliance, Fred make the opening to one of the beads pear shaped, so it fits perfectly down on top of the swivel and is "suspended" off of the split ring, which I think will add a lot to its longevity:

    I wanted to put my glow fob with its topper on a swivel, because I think being free turning might help it not crack or get stuck or break. I also thought it'd be awesome to have something to show off besides a swivel, so I sent him one of the swivels to size a bead on it, and it came out better than I could have hoped.
