    That was my original plan, but in the end i glued the pieces back on, and added glue inside the hole. This made it a little tighter but it has held so far. Give me a week tonsee if the repair has worked correctly.

    What price would a metal Spartan be. The spartan I got for the glow fob died in a different place this time, so I think I will just replace it for a metal one :p

    Never made a metal topper. It would be more expensive than a 5/8 model since that is the smallest stock I have and it would require more metal removal. I think a more affordable option is acrylic. It will be marginally stronger than the wood.

    I think you had a lot of bad luck. :D My cocobolo Villain is still kicking and I haven't heard any reports of other broken wood toppers.

    I can be quite rough on my keys/tools :( I made the mistake of putting my keys in my back pocket, and while I was sitting down I heard a pop. Lucky though that the epoxy coating I added inside it held the piece on rather than falling off.

    I think I jinxed myself. I took my topper off today to build a custom topper for Cow. It fell on the ground and I accidentally stepped on it. It's not "still kicking" anymore. :furious:

    What is this topper I made for Cow? Have a look.
