So... just let me and my wallet make sure we understand - the plier head from a rebar will fit a Charge TTi without any mods or change to overall dimensions?

No, the rebar head will fit into a Charge XTi and ALX ONLY with out any mods. Those two models come standard with two bit drivers.

Hey Metro, is there a coating on the Ti handles?

I'm thinking you should send this one to Jeff & ask him to Cerakote it in Burnt Bronze, Eric.

And build a Commander Skinth, out of FDE or Coyote material.

Oh and what's the difference between the XTi and the TTi?

TTi has only one bit kit, but the premium blade (S30V).....unsure of other differences.

The xti is a retired tool. It was the same gen as the Ti..predecessor to the TTi.

The xti is the same load out as the current alx. Two drivers, 154cm PE, serrated guy hook. But with Ti scales.

I got mine off eBay for cheap! ($30 for a lot of 7 broken tools)

    Not yet, just plain Ti.

I was surprised to find casting flaws when milling the Ti. Little cavities.

I was more curious about whether the factory put any kind of coating on the ti. I'm planning to anodize mine though now you have me thinking I should find an XTi or Ti.

I have seen some amazing blue anodizing on the Ti scales. AFAIK, it's raw.

Awesome. So, now the quest becomes.......is the replacement of the worthless scissors (the ones on my mini champ are almost as big). Thanks for the pointers Metro. I should just put in another bit insert I suppose.

I find the Leatherman scissors (insides ones) are more powerful than the vic mini champ ones.

    But yah...nigh impossible! :(

    More bushcraft developments.

I had been toying with the idea of adding a ferro rod somewhere on an MT and the Commander is a good place to start.

I milled out a 1/8" slot on the inside of the scale, the scissors offering a lot of space. I took some aluminum rod I had as a stand in, still waiting on the ferro rod. The Alu rod is 2.2mm but the ferro is supposed to be 1/8".

Other websites have listed their 2" long ferro rod as 2mm diameter. In any case, both should fit.

The biggest problem I had was finding a striker ON the MT that was removable. Since adding the Blade Exchanger, this problem is a thing of the past.

This mod is by no means a replacement for a proper ferro rod or another kind fire starter but its kind of a proof of concept and last ditch.

^very nice. The only thing I'm wondering about this mod is, if the sparks fly wide enough. Wouldn't it be better to put the rod more towards the end of the handle?

It's as far as it can go. It should work ;)
