I've got the black one and it is awesome. Very lightweight and comfortable. I don't have a heavy or large EDC so it works well for me.

I'm going to do a write up this weekend the bag and the kit I carry in it.

Ah, OK. Well, I like the ripstop version but having it all 550d would be pretty cool also.

I'm going to keep it as it's a nice pack. If I had know I was getting this half and half pack, I would have preferred the black one. I can't help but notice, as Defuse Kit did, that the black pack, which is half-and-half, is $22 cheaper than the regular pack.
I tried looking on their Facebook page and it just covered with a bunch of crap. You'd think info like that would be on their website and be easy to find.

Anyone try a concealed carry in it? Seems the layout would make for an awkward quick draw.

Not yet, but I doubt a quick draw was part of the design. More like transport.

Yeah, I think I mentioned that in my review. If truly want a quick draw then you should have your gun in a holster.

With that said, this pack is not as effective as others I've reviewed in providing easy access to the firearm. For instance, the COVRT 18 CCW compartment is horizontal so you can access it when you swing it around off your shoulder. Shoulder packs like the Maxped Jumbo EDC and Hazard 4 Kato have more accessible CCW pockets also. But, they do not have the storage capacity of the Stealth and the COVRT 18 is a much larger pack to EDC. So it's a trade off.

I just picked one of these up today and I like it a lot. (partly due to your fine review and recommendation) What do you think of the plastic rings that attach the shoulder straps to the pack? They seem a bit flimsy but I could be wrong.

    Thanks for your feedback!

I think they are adequate given the size of the pack and the load it was meant to carry. It's a light weight recon pack, not an Assault pack. It lacks a frame sheet or waist belt... which is an indication that is was never meant to haul a super heavy load.

Don't seem too flimsy to me either given you don't fill the pack with concrete. :) I looked at those when I first got it too, but after using it, they are more than adequate.

They may seem flimsy, but they are pretty tough. I've been using mine as a basic EDC bag for day to day activities (out shopping/day trips with the family and work EDC.) Its a great lightweight grab and go bag for the times when you need extra carrying capacity, but don't need a huge pack.

I keep looking at the area of the inside flap and wonder why they went with that layout.

Four little velcro-closed pockets? Really? It's like they ran out of ideas.

What's wrong with the tried 'n true zipper closure method?

They could have easily put two zippered mesh pockets on there instead. It just seems (to me) that it would be a better use of that space... *shrug*

Completely agree. Weird velcro pockets vs. a couple zippered would have been a no brainer. Zippers with confidence. At least remove 2 of those velcro pockets and in its place a zippered pocket. Like it was last minute and was not an end user type who made the decision.

I wish I could go to Tactical Tailor's HQ and give them a few pointers from an 'end users' perspective...

I would be making awesome little changes to their packs left and right...
