I'm still working this problem out--I may put my meager carpentry skills to work and try to make something, my workbench looks like my EDC boxes have the flu.

+1 for the one xbanker put up. :) I also have smaller tackle-like boxes around too.

To clarify for those who aren't familiar, Plano and other companies make tackle cases with dividers. They are not tackle boxes in the more traditional sense but rather flat plastic boxes with a flip top that latches or snaps shut. They come in a wide variety of sizes and quite a few options with regards to depth and width of the segments.

Most allow you to arrange the segments by moving dividers as you need.

Tackle boxes work too but the cases for lures and such offer a lot of options, are mostly cheaper, and don't have to take up as much room.

The real kicker for me is that most of them are clear so you can see what's in the case without having to open it. They are also easy to label.

I have a small bench for working on projects in my basement. On the bench, I use these ...

Near the bench, I have some shelf storage where I use these for larger items ...

I use an Allit case (the yellow one in the background, only that mine is red) for my knife sharpening kit and components. Allit has many more modular cases. A case like xbanker for most of my other small things (key rings,…) and Ikea Moppe mini chest drawers in small and large for bigger items.

My son uses one of those Allit cases for small Lego parts. Works pretty slick.

I use the little white plastic 3 tier storage boxes from Walmart. I'll takes pic tomorrow. Nothing special.

Got this recently for screws for truck carry. Working out well, there are some rugged dewalt hard clamshell type organizers you can get and they fit perfectly in the side pockets of this.

Also one of the watertight plano plastic divider boxes fits perfectly inside main compartment. I actually removed most of the ones that came with this one & use different ones in main area along with a few more dewalt boxes. Two fit side by side in there on top of the other boxes.

Only thing that concerns me is the weight with all the metal & stuff but I don't move it around a lot so it should be okay. Lots of pockets on this thing and pretty durable.

I eventually want to find an old card catalogue or chinese medicine chest to store stuff in. The clear drawer kind like most people use is cheaper and way more practical, but it would be cool ;)

Time to start looking for libraries that are shutting down. Better hurry though as finding libraries with physical card catalogues instead of computer terminals is harder and harder. I grew up in a town with a large library and the card catalogs seemed to go on forever.

OK.... this is the second thread that has made me feel old. Y'all need to stop this right quick. :stomp:;)

Yeah, I know :( I want some of those rolling shelves that a lot of doctors offices use too, but I rent and don't have anywhere to store them right now. As all the offices switch over to digital they are getting rid of the shelving and either giving it away or selling it cheap. I've already seen it on craig's list twice and thought about picking it up. But I would have to rent a storage shed til I bought a house lol.
