Slick street pack

I did not build this pack with keeping any military application in mind. This falls into the "tacticool"-category.

Why did i build this, then? Just for the fun of trying something new.

I did know before i started this project that running the zipper vertically across the front panel, is not the most practical zipper set up, but i wanted to do it anyway.

Backpanel, sides and the bottom are padded, so the pack holds it´s shape even when it´s empty. The mesh pockets on the sides are so wide and deep, that i could get away without making pleats for the pockets.

Do those two 2x6 pals rows on both sides of the zippers make any sense (when thinking their practical use)? No, not really... that´s the tacticool-part[IMG]

Like i said, not the most practical pack, so i doubt that i will use this much, but i kind of like how this looks.. It´s... cute..

    Thanks guys!

Haha! Well, i have so many other packs that i can use, which are much more suitable for my needs:)

I used the pack today, and actually, it´s not that bad after all.. I mean, i thought that i would hate the vertical zipper, but it wasn´t as uncomfortable to use as i feared. I might even consider keeping this one..

    Thanks kd7dvd,

Here´s a picture of the pack open:

(to give you some reference; my 13,3" laptop fits through the opening without any problems)

The MOLLE should fit a (velcro rip-away) FAK pouch and something similar easily.

    I already have an idea of how to improve the design;

In the current design, the Pals is pretty much just for the show, as it´s only 2 wide.

In the next version, there will be two vertical zippers instead of just one, running close to the edge of the front panel (on both sides). That leaves a continuous space in between the zippers, enough to fit 3-4 Pals

If you decide to get rid of it I know a place in NC where they let you "throw away" unused packs.
Looks like it would make a good diaper bag. (soon to be dad thought!)

Neat design; can't get past that vertical zipper! but one up each side = fixt.

Earlier on this thread, i mentioned about giving the design two vertical zippers, instead of just one.

I set out to do just that, but decided to try an Eberlestock´ish, panel loader. The overall shape of the pack is exactly the same as time one i did before, so the front panel is the only thing that is different.

Here´s what i´ve done so far:

Contrary to what i feared before i started this new approach, i haven´t actually had any complications with the panel opening, and i think this will grow up to be a beautiful little pack[IMG] But i will start a new thread about this pack once i have it finished..

The side zip looks even better, if only you were producing for the masses.
