So for Christmas I recieved a pair of Merrell moabs, in gortex. They are fantastic shoes, incredibly comfortable. I've run into a weird problem though. The laces refuse to stay tied for any more than 2 hours or so. I could be just sitting and get up to walk to the water fountain, and within that time, they'll just come loose. Do I just need a new pair of laces?
I have a pair of Moab Ventilators and I almost always double-tie the laces since they're a little slippery. I do this with most of my shoes.
I replaced my Merrell shoelaces (not the MOAB, but a similar model) with gutted foliage green cord (looks awesome). I double tied it once and it hasn't come undone in the months I've been EDC'ing them. I just slip them on every day.
I didn't know this was a common problem. Mine do it too. I try to tighten real tight. It never works. I'll have to try that surgeon knot some time. Hopefully I won't get my finger stuck.
I had a pair of boots that kept coming untied until I gutted the laces, they've been fine ever since.
