To make a long story short...our time system has changed at work after a new company has taken over. With our new time cards, we swipe them through a scanner almost like a credit card reader....my odd question is: is there a name badge holder (clear) that i can hang around my neck that's thin enough for me to put my name badge in and it still be swiped through the machine? I wasn't really sure where to put this question at....Thanks guys/gals!
Does the card have to be swiped? Or is it a radio tag? I imagine that if it has to be swiped, you could cut out a slot on the clear holder so the magnetic stripe shows through without interference.
Yes it has to be swiped through the machine. It's a barcode strip that the machine reads....i wasn't sure if i got a clear plastic one if it would somehow interfere with the strip or not..You're right though, i didn't even think about just cutting a slot where the barcode is....i may get one to try out.
You can either hole punch the corner of the card, or use one of them plastic wallet type ones with a cut out at the back.
We were told we couldn't punch holes in them, or alter their appearance in any way. So i may just go to the local office supply store and pickup a few different types and try some out. Thanks so much for the reply guys!
Do you know how big a clearance the card has to swipe? My card holder is open on 1 side, so if you have the strip facing out it could work that way?
If you're referring to the clearance within the slot....there's plenty of room on either side of the card in the slot while swiping.
My place of employment uses a bio-metric hand scanner to punch in/out. Some times if you have a band-aid on on your finger, the scanner won't read your hand.
Would they get bent out of shape if you stuck something to the card? You could make a decent lanyard loop out of a piece of helicopter tape folded back on itself, perhaps with a small splitring captured inside. Cheers, Ted

There is a small plastic clip that would fit your need. No mfg name on the item. There are rubber fingers inside that grip the card without any need for holes or modifications.

if it's just a barcode, I would photocopy it and laminate it to a suitable card that could have a hole it it.
