My first watch

My first watch since I was like 5 or six and my Grandparents gave me a Mickey Mouse watch.

Year after year passed that I'd look at what was out there, but was still always undecided and so I never bought one.
When considering any purchase I take several factors into account. Price, quality, customer service, aesthetics, durabilty, and the enjoyment factor.
Admittedly, I could have continued to research and maybe had found something less pricey or more attractive, but after reading all the positive remarks from so many owners and the fact I REALLY like the simply understated look, I decided to take the plunge.

The Lum-Tec Combat B1 arrived earlier today. So far I'm VERY happy with it!

More to come later when I have more time to write.

That is WAAAAAYYY to awesome of a watch to be your first. You should let me hold that for you until you're really ready for it. ;)

Failing that, at least gives us a good lume shot.

    Thanks guys!

I'm lovin this watch! The NATO band is sweet and I like how easy it is to take off to look at the movement!
Much more comfortable than I thought it'd be. I now understand what people mean when they say "it wears smaller than it looks".
It has some weight but surprisingly didn't notice it for my first time wearing a watch in about 30 years.

Fortunately I do have realistic expectations with regards to "lume". I've seen all sorts of different glow materials, but nothing compares to tritium. I don't need or want my watch glowing crazy bright all the time. Considering I have all sort of tritium markers, I would much prefer them over glow paint, but I knew this going in and it doesn't bother me one bit since it gives me an excuse for another watch with different features. I also have a flashlight on me 24/7 so a quick lume charge is simple.

I'm actually looking forward to waking up tomorrow morning to begin a new routine of winding my watch..Lol!
Theres just something about having that strange interpersonal-material item bond. I don't know how to explain it. It's almost primal. You simply CAN NOT get this same type of feeling from say a smart phone, tablet, or other non machanical technological items...(In my personal opinion) Knifes, flashlights, lighter, pen...ect...are some of the same items that seem to provide some strange satisfaction that's unexplainable.

I have a friend who purposely will not look at certain items that interest him, since he said temptation will cause him to spend money.
I couldn't really relate....until today. I realized I had been doing exactly this with regards to watches all along!! LOL!!
I enjoy and appreciate intricate machining and have almost never spent much time looking a watches....knowing :censored: well I would be drawn in, examining, and searching for THE watch for me.
I'm happy and my taste may change, but I have now opened up another can of worms and can't stop looking at all the interesting designs and youtube videos of movements.

Lum-shots to come...my phone camera is being a pain.

A watch is more than a fashion item or a timekeeping device,,,,,,, it's a tiny machine that depends on you to keep it on time and in good fettle. If you have to wind it then even better,,,,,,,,,

    Enjoy :)
