    Raceaddict Loaded Pockets

Anyone with anything to add to this thread?

I started looking at a Keyport yesterday.... trying to figure if it's actually worth it for my application. Chipped key, so automatically lose one slot (as I understand it) and besides that I need to be able to attach at least 2 full fobs to it, was well as well as a gas station pass.

My current keychain is just one car key plus all attachments.... other keys (house, office, shop, etc) are kept on a seperate ring.

Also, my house key is a semi-circle Abloy unit... so I'm not even sure that'll fit in the Keyport slots. Could anyone measure the opening? I looked on the site and didn't see that mentioned.

    Cheers.

Raceaddict, it sounds like the Keyport may not be ideal for your application. If you want some other options, check out the link in my signature line.

    Update:

Still using the Keyport and still fond of it. Ordered the 8gb thumb-drive and the light blade inserts the other day and will be testing them out since I've found that I don't use the keys to my parents houses regularly enough to keep them in the Keyport itself. I'll report back on how these add-ons work out but I do use a Nitecore D-10 as my daily carry light so I'll have to remember that I have the Keyport light on my person. For those that are curious about the exterior finish on the Keyport I'll say that mine is holding up extremely well and I foresee that it will last quite awhile.

One thing that I still wish for are self illuminated nodes as I still can't always tell which node I am pushing out until I can actually feel the key when it's dark out. Super Luminova would be nice and Tritium would be better so I'm hoping that there will eventually be an option for geezers like myself even if it is from an alternative source. If something isn't offered in about six months or so I'll probably start hounding my tritium sources for small enough artifacts to insert into a set of nodes to test.

Been carrying mine for about a month now. Really liking it.

I really like the fact that it fits securely in the 5th pocket of pants and jeans (change pocket, watch pocket - whatever you call it).

As for use in the dark, its' more about figuring out which side you're on than anything else. You quickly memorize which key is in which slot on each side, and so seeing the nodes is not much of an issue in the dark - once you get to the right side.

Putting something tactile on one side might be a good solution. Such as a small piece of gaff or spike tape. I have an LED light on the detachable end of the lanyard so, if worse comes to worse I can pop on the light to figure it out.

I don't feel like the unit itself is fragile, but I am careful not to twist the keys too hard or too quickly in locks. No need to push my luck.

The other think I've noticed is that the tail cap will NOT come off unless all the keys are slid out slightly. So - that piece seems very securely attached.

All in all - I'm really enjoying it!

Hi all,I've been carrying mine for several months now and really liking it,especially the light blade. Now if only Keyport have a tritium node for it.

    Thanks for the kind words.

I can tell you that we have searched high and low for the best glow-in-the-dark options for our Nodes. We have tested countless paints and powders and visited a number of forums for suggestions. Because the Keyport spends so much time in pocket, I believe that tritium just might be the only solution for a glow-in-the dark Node that doesn't need charging. Tritium is just very cost prohibitive, not to mention extremely difficult to procure. Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

Today my Keyport came in handy and here is how. My wife drove me to the airport this morning, which is important to the story. I received a call about 20 mins ago that someone found my keyport from the support team at keyport. My wife is a student and must have dropped it on her way to class so the person that found it called in and my wife will now pick it up. I am also out of town which makes the investment for just this one incident even more worth it. She doesn't even know its missing right now and its already been found. Kudos to keyports support team and to the product. I can safely say that in my situation they were able to recover my lost keys and help me keep my mind as ease while I am out of town.

How about the stuff they put in Luminox watches? Even just one of the six nodes would be enough for a lot of people I bet. One would let you know which side you were on.

    keyport Loaded Pockets

We are currently testing two types of LumiNova, and they certainly glow brightly and for longer than most of the other substances we have tested. But the challenge still remains that because the Keyport spends so much time in pocket, it does not always get charged. That would have to be up to the customer which makes it very difficult for us to control. We will do a bit more testing before we release the results and solicit customer feedback. Thanks for your input.

    David,

Thanks for keeping us posted on this as you know I am one of your customers that would really like to see these added to your storefront.

Hey guys sorry to re visit a dead thread but I was wondering if they ever considered doing a all metal run of these. I have looked at the website and it seems that they still only sell the same aluminum and plastic version and I'm jsut not sold on the durability of that particular unit.

It's actually a thin sheet of steel skin, not aluminum with a polycarbonate body. So it's quite sturdy.

But, yeah, I'd definitely be interested in an all metal one.

I really want to get one but the thought of having to send my keys to and from the USA for change outs is keeping me away!

Just got my Keyport as an early Christmas gift and I am in love. Can't wait to get a different attachment for the bottom and I think I will also opt for the USB to replace my TAC Drive evn though I have loved it.
