I've known for a while that Cody Lundin got a new partner (Joseph Teti) for Dual Survival after Dave Canterbury left the show. I've been tracking the progess as they were filming the new season as best as I could. I'm a huge fan of the show and of both Cody Lundin and Dave Canterbury.
Last news I heard was that Cody said they were about half way done with filming the new season...so this morning I went on his Facebook page to see if I could find any news about when the new season will air.....and this is what I found :

"Hi Campers, It's finally here....thank you for your patience! Cody

    DUAL SURVIVAL: UNBRAIDED
    Premieres Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at 8PM E/P

This one-hour special kicks off the new season of DUAL SURVIVAL with never-before-seen footage of outdoor survival skills instructor Cody Lundin and introduces viewers to his brand new partner, special operations veteran Joseph Teti. DUAL SURVIVAL: UNBRAIDED also gives fans a sneak peek of the third season as the duo is thrust into survival scenarios ranging from lost hikers on the side of a jungle volcano in Nicaragua to downed paraglider pilots on a 17,000-foot peak in Chile’s Atacama Desert. Viewers also get an up close and personal look at Cody’s off-the-grid passive solar earth home in the remote Arizona desert and join Joe on the firing range as he hones his skills with his combat tested M-4 rifle and Glock 9mm pistol. This special provides an intimate look at the new team as they struggle against Mother Nature and, oftentimes, each other.

    DUAL SURVIVAL
    “Mars on Earth”
    Premieres Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at 9PM E/P

Chile’s Atacama desert is the driest place on Earth, and it’s landscape is so barren and unique that NASA uses it as a testing ground for it’s Martian rovers. It is here that Cody Lundin and Joe Teti are put to the ultimate desert survival test. In this scenario, they take on the plight of a downed paraglider pilot who has crash landed on a mountain peak over 14,000 feet above sea level. Facing acute altitude sickness, and with limited water and resources, they must strip the paraglider for all it’s worth and head out in search of civilization and re-hydration.

    Now the wait begins....

Although I loved the dynamics of the partnership between Cody and Dave.....and firmly believe the show won't be the same without Dave Canterbury...I'm really looking forward to the new season ! :)

    Are you a fan ??????

This part of the Press Release suggests that perhaps we will get some kind of friction between the two of them...just like we saw between Cody and Dave at times. There were times when I thought Cody was absolutely crazy and times when I thought Dave was off his rocker...

I just can't wait for the new season to start...:D

Due to spending time with family, I missed the 2-hour start to seaon 3 of Dual Survival. I don't have a DVR or similar device, so I'll have to catch it on Youtube or watch a re-run on Discovery. I have read some comments made by people who has watched the one hour introduction (Unbraided) and the 1st episode called "Mars on Earth". Most of it was not good but I would like to see for myself. I am fairly certain that I will miss Dave Canterbury when I get a chance to watch it.

I can respect if you for some reason don't care for Dave Canterbury. I personally think the world of him and consider him one of my mentors. I think he made a huge mistake by embellishing a few things on his resume to the Discovery Channel and as you can see here....he would completely agree :

Why does everything have to be.....either/or ??? My point is that I think the world of Cody Lundin as well. Guess what ?!!??! They are both human and they both make mistakes. Why can't we just take people for what they are and learn from both gentlemen ?? Survivorman (Les Stroud) screws up all the time and learns from it. I absolutely love Les and think the world of him too....

All I'm trying to say is that it is possible to like and enjoy them all. To learn from them all. To "filter" what you read or see on TV from either of them. All that matters to me is that a person has something to teach others...to help others and to make this world a better place. It does however not make them better than you or me.

At the time of writing this...both the 1 hour Intro (Unbraided) and the 1st episode (Mars on Earth) could be found on YouTube. Catch the new episode of Dual Survival...Tomorrow at 9 EST on the Discovery Channel....

    http://dsc.discovery.com/tv-shows/dual-survival

(After checking the TV schedule...it would appear that you can catch BOTH the Intro and the 1st episode tomorrow night starting from 7 PM EST....followed by the new episode called "On the Menu" at 9 PM EST.)

Got a chance to watch “Mars on Earth” on YouTube before going to work tonight. Joe Teti is truly an all american hero and I really like what he brings to the table. It's too early to tell...but I think I'm going to conclude that he's a replacement for Dave Canterbury and that's it. After the hubbub with Dave...Discovery went to great length to find a Spec Ops type guy and boy did they find one !!! He's highly experienced and trained in the military.

BUT...he's not an alround survival trained guy like Dave is and will readily admit that.

I have chosen to realize that Dave is not coming back and that I'll just have to enjoy the show as it is now. Joe Teti didn't disappoint me. Cody said he was not about to gather resources (firewood) and carry that along....(The "Grab it while you can" mantra must not be popular with the old desert-guru) while Joe clearly indentified the need to pick up as much firewood as they could. Cody very reluctantly humored Joe not to upset his new partner especially since his new partner trecked UP a mountain in very thin air and harsh climate to bring them ice to melt for water.

    Cody, Cody, Cody....:rolleyes_revamped:

Anyways...overall a great episode and I'm looking forward to the next one tomorrow... :)

I don't remember the details...there was quite a bit of outrage on another Forum or two. If I remember correctly, Dave may have said to Discovery or let them believe more likely...that he had a past as a sniper...with the US Army Rangers. (Anyone, please correct me if I remember wrong)

I picked up Cody's book on survival awhile back. Made for a good read. Plenty of useful info. including how to put together a good wilderness survival kit on the cheap. But some of the things be advocated were actually pretty reckless. Also, the book claims that Cody will reveal things that fly in the face of conventional survival teachings found in other books. Actually, there were only 3 differences, compared to other books on the subject. Two were rather minor. The last? . . . Cody advocated that folks drink a lot more water than other instructors advocate. Apparently if you're not frequently urinating and that urine is any color other than clear, then your body is already dehydrated. I think he's right about that. But other than that, Cody's "98.6 Degrees. . . " survival book is pretty conventional.

Clearly from his book though, Cody doesn't have all the answers either. Plus, once again, he advocates some pretty reckless and even silly things in his book. (I can understand splitting a kitchen match once to get two lights from one match. But as much as several times?? No doubt some can pull that off. But for others, they'll just end up wasting a perfectly good match trying that.)

Hmmm. I got two minutes into it, then this screen: You must purchase this video to watch the full length version.

Happy to see DC posted the video you linked (albeit, difficult to watch). Think he had to acknowledge "the elephant in the room." Took some courage, but now he can close that chapter and move on.

X..I checked my Youtube History this morning and the full episode of "Mars on Earth" that someone had uploaded had been removed by YT by request of Discovery. Figures...:D
If you get a chance...The DS Season 3 Intro(Unbraided) and "Mars on Earth"...plus the new episode "On the Menu" can all be found on the Discovery Channel from 7pm EST....

Looks like I won't be getting off of work myself in time to watch Unbraided...:(

Thanks for the heads up! I'm a bit late to the party but I'm sure I'll find a rerun somewhere.

ps: I really don't care for the drama, I'm just sorry the Dave-dude is gone. They worked well together in that show for several reasons. Oh well, lets hope the new guy is any good.

Thanks, but I'm afraid that's not going to work. They have a different programming for their dutch station. We do get a rerun of one of the original episodes tonight at 8 though. Episode 12 it says, but no season is mentioned.

Not sure when we'll be getting the new season here. But to be honest I don't like watching tv, the commercials are just too distracting imo. I usually just wait till the season is over if there's a show I want to see & download the whole thing all at once & watch it spread over just a couple of days.

No worries, it would be a lot easier to keep track of where everyone's from if they added our location to that window with our user name to the left there <---

He ^^ doesn't seem too bad, I'll give the guy a chance :)

Wow...I just got done watching tonights episode of Dual Survival. The title was extremely fitting..."On the Menu". I would have named it..."Oh :censored: !!!"...or "Heeeeere kitty, kitty..kitty !!!" :D Cody and Joe were in real danger from get-go and at times..they were reduced to be a couple of juicy snacks for the lions. It made for great TV and I was severely entertained. Poachers were thrown into the mix to vastly increase the danger. Cody's new partner Joe quickly stepped up to the plate and his elite military training was put to good use. Cody and Joe was basically cat-food...

If you watched it...you will know why I really, really wished that Joe had been armed with some of his "toys" from home. Forget this show for a minute...this guy has been fighting in first Iraq and then Afghanistan.

It was with some irony that when the duo finally got a meal....it was a cat-fish. If you ask me...it was a great episode ! :)

I missed the first few minutes that usually tells us the scenario. That being said I can't think of any scenario in Africa that would leave me without a blade smaller than 6 inches. How the heck did that happen?
