    something unusual

    Hi Everyone,

    New Member, 1st post.

Last year I purchased a 1 Litre aluminum water bottle and then spent 2 weeks searching for a carry system. Finally found one and have been using it up till now. It is a bag that is 13 inches long with a full length zipper and a drawstring/toggle closure. The bottle fits completely inside the bag, and with the toggle pulled tight is completely securred. The carrying strap is 33 inches in length.

After reading quite a number of the posts in this forum, I had a "lightbulb" moment. Please bear with me on this:
    1 litre bottle + water = 1.0 pound
    carrry bag = 0.5 pound
    total = 1.5 pounds

The carrying strap extends 21 inches above the top of the bag, and is securered to the bag with 5 tabs (2 on each side and 1 on the bottom). Now imagine accelerating this in an ark over your head and "clocking" an attacker up side the head. A 1.5 pound flexible flail!

What is more inocuous than someone carrying their own drinking water.

    Comments please.

A liter of water weighs 1 kilogram, or 2.2 pounds.

    +1 for science!

I'd be worried about stitches ripping, or broken shoulder strap clips.
a 1 liter bottle also seems like a large target for your attacker.

How well built is this bag?

Give'er a swing ... but post a video if you can.

I think snaggletooth means to swing the water bottle not "the bag". Seems a good idea, as long as it can be easily and quickly deployed from the bag.

    Hi again,

Pocket wad, thanks for the correction. I guess my bathroom scale is out a bit!

b.s. & ianxjr, the bag is well designed and built. The shoulder strap goes completely around the bag. Down one side and up the other side. It is held in place by 5 strap keepers (think belt loops). Two on each side of the bag and one on the bottom. The shoulder strap actually supports the weight of the water bottle. The shoulder strap and strap keepers are made of the same webbing material. The bottle is swung while inside the bag.

I have two concerns with your idea.

The first concern is that if you swing it and miss, will you be able to recover fast enough and without hitting yourself?

The second concern is that the bottle holds your drinking water. Let's say you were out all day and drank most or all your water when you suddenly become engaged in a conflict. Does the bottle hold enough weight empty or only partially full to still do damage?

Never come to a fight with an empty weapon!
