    do we still like countycomm?

CC used to be good, but I've read some threads recently that product quality is slipping, and customer service is lax.

I bought a peanut lighter from there and had no complaints. Shipping was okay, product was as expected.

Customer service is definitely lax. More like nonexistent. I bought two Maratac AA flashlights along with a load of other small items, and one of the flashlights was defective, and had loose threads. I tried to exchange it for a new one, or at least try to get it fixed, but after two months of more than once-a-week emails to them, I've lost hope.

Honestly, for a small item like you're thinking about buying, I would say it's safe to purchase, as a warranty issue would be nonexistent or moot; however, I'm done giving this company my buisiness if they can't treat customers with respect. I implore you to just buy it from the other website you listed.

By the way, expect a more complete and severely scathing review of CountyComm in the coming week or so. :)

    Hi All,

I have nothing but good things to say about County Comm and their customer service.

I reciently ordered some of their Spectre and Kevlar thread along with a Split Pea lighter and a Military Tweezer. There customer service was top notch. The Split Pea lighter had the flint push up spring missing when it arrived.

When I called them, they were cheerful, told me to keep the first one for spare parts, mailed me another one right away and told me that they were sending me a second pair of the tweezers for my troubles (which they did). The customer service replacement order arrived two days after I called them.

Everybody will have problems with one place or another in their life, I will not be critical of any company that assists EDC forums members unless it comes from Jon Sidney or there is a tremendous amount of repeat negative press. These companies do alot of business so if there are signifagant issues they will surface and all will know. Jon had Issues with Maxpedition in the past, and even though they have a good product and I have some of their stuff. I will avoid them if there is a good substitute available. EDC items are important to us all and it is important that we patronize these specific companies that make our life easier.

County Comm as we all know has some unique items that I know that we can bemefit from. I am not a shill from their company. I have absolutely no relationship with the company, or any of their employees, I live in S. Fla and I am more Emergency Prepairdness / Survival oriented than some members, so I tend to be more critical then some of us. Anyway so far I have only positive things to say about County Comm.

The only complaint I ever saw that I took County Comms side on was about an order that was being handled by a third party for export to a questionable source. I commend County Comm even if it was legit as it might have keept survival items away from terrorists.

I'll be contacting a few websites/organizations like the one you describe to file formal complaints against CountyComm. The Better Business Bureau, Angie's list, the FTC, and the office of the Attorney Generals of both my state and California are where I'll be sending my complaints. Bad business practices are a pet peeve of mine. :|

I thought they didn't have a customer service number? I've been corresponding through email, and have gotten a reply through their main customer service address, and an email from Frank Layton. They offered me a refund, but I told them I wanted a replacement. No reply for the past two weeks. Very disappointing.

EDIT: Cliff, if you know someone there, maybe you could give them a shove in the right direction concerning my issue. I gave them an ultimatum this past Sunday, and told them I expected a reply by Tuesday night (tonight). I'm not holding my breath for a last minute email.

I have ordered from them two or three times and each time has been a positive experience. I have never had anything lost and all the items have always arrived in excellent condition. The items in general were decent quality - better than average. I've read a handful of negative and positive reviews and from what I can tell, it seems like luck of the draw whether you will get amazing customer service or absolutely none at all. The only other downside is the shipping is expensive.

Just placed an earlier order today with County Comm; by this afternoon I already had an e-mail and tracking number from UPS saying my order had been shipped. That is about 4 hours from order placement to shipping! Not bad at all -- in fact, probably the fastest I have ever seen from an online vendor. Any contact I have had with them in the past by phone or e-mail was always friendly and prompt. Have not dealt with them on any customer service issues.
