    Izula Handle Scales Question

Just got an Izula knife ... excellent little knife. I also bought the Micarta handle scales as an add-on. My question about these Micarta handle scales is whether they can be permanently colored/dyed or not? They're grey now and I wanted to make them a little darker (the knife and sheath are both black). Ideas, anyone? Thanks for your help.

I doubt it will take a stain, due the fact that the canvas is saturated in reisen.

Yeah, that's what I figured, but I'm going to fool around with a small spot on the inside of one of the scales ... that way if I screw it up, I can always just put'em back on with no harm done. Thanks!

You might try Duracoat or other paint type finishes.I highly doubt the micarta will absorb the stain.

Thanks, y'all. I just used a black permanent marker: believe it or not it actually worked really well. Thanks again.

Any problems with the marker coming off in sweaty hands?

Not so far and I have used it several times. But, I suggest before you try it on the scales just put a few dots on the inside surface. Let them dry and try rubbing them off with dry hands and wet.

The Izula scales will take a dye.

These scales will indeed take a dye....it is not extremely deep but it does well.
