And surprisingly, there are some areas where if you post, you will not have it count toward your post count. But I've just been informed by a moderator that they cannot tell you which areas of the forum are like that. Go figure!!!

    Hold yonder horses that's a misquote, I wasn't sure which area's counted, & that's the honest truth...

    Since you opened the door,

2.b. EDCF forbids the posting of personal communications including, but not limited to, Personal Messages and email.

Please tell me which part of that direct quote is a misquote.

    Re: BST,
I just joined another forum that requires 100 posts in order to post a BST thread and honestly think it's a great idea to get to know people on the forum before making transactions especially if something goes wrong unintentionally .
After all, unless your a Dealer, Retailer or Home Craftsman that requires a 'Badge' it's free of charge here at EDCF .
If your in a rush to sell something and can't wait to make 15 posts (that I see you have) and/or just here to do so, I might suggest using E-Bay or Craigslist ;)

    BE WELL .. GH
I'm not jealous of what you have; I'm simply questionable of how you abuse it

Everyone assumes it is about BST. BTW, if you do not know, unless you have 15 posts you cannot send a PM to anyone except a forum upper echelon. So don't assume that you want to relegate me to a Craigs' lister. BTW, look at when I joined and you'll see that I wasn't trying to run up a post count. You do know what they say about those who assume, don't you?

Pardon me Jim, I should have replied with a quote .. It also appeared that you started the thread after you jumped in . A simple mistake .

Making it too public invites those who join with the only reason to join is to sell. Those that come to deliberately rip people off first look for BST, they then do the "hi how are you thing and win some trust but it sometimes can be seen through" People who want to be active members that want to sell is good for the member to be able to unload something and is nice for the other members. Someone only here to sell and nothing else might be innocent but they are where the greater number of problems are.

The better scammers go though several good transactions to win even more trust then the scam takes off big and that person vanishe with everyones money. We had problems the first year, what we are doing now was suggested, we have had a period where we want for well over a year and not a single complaint about a rip-off.

We state that we cannot intervene in BST issues but I have four times this year, this is a year where there are things I have been trying to do somethings for almost a year and cannot find time to get to it. When someone brings a BST issue and I try and follow up on it how do I know the truth? It takes time and the fact it I might not know the truth. It eats up time I just don't have. I takes qutie a few hours to get an idea of what really happened on some issues. It might be nicer of guest visiting the forum to not even know it exists at all, then if they join one day surprise there it is. We have had one of the most notorious internet scam artists try and get into the forum many times and did get in a few but I don't think that got a single person in here. A member noticed them each time. One noticied them because of their posting style. He has stolen a very large amount of money via forums.

The thing is it does make things inconvienient for those that do not post much but have been reading out here for years but we have to be consistent. I also get people complaining about the rules in BST as well. I know I don't have to explain the reasons why they are that way but they work unless people start breaking them. We don't want people removing prices after a sale because that opens up the possiblilty of dispute on the terms. If the terms are changed after the sale then there is room for dispute.

We have to be consistent. Rules are added as people break the spirt of the rule too many times. A person joins and says hi to 15 members on a row in the introduction section, makes a bee line and puts something up for sale. We had one guy we caught that had three different accounts. He would put an item up for sale, then another account would post, "who that is really nice and will probaly sell fast, i would buy it right now if I had the money" Then another account he had would have a post something like "Yeah, that is a super deal" A regular member would post, something like "well, Atwood sold it for XXX.00 and you are selling for almost double. Then the shill would post about how you still can't get one right now at that price. I actually don't remember how the jargon went but it was multiple accounts to scalp product. There where many things wrong with the way things were done but what bothered me was the shilling used to create a heard mentality. We did ban all three accounts.

I wish we could get away with having no rules at all but we learned from experiance with have to have some and as they get stepped on enough the rules grow.

I want the BST area to run nice clean and quite (quite as no complaints). The rules have worked but recently there has been a few problems. I don't want to have to resort to this but it has been suggested that we require a password to assess BST if things continue. The rules work to give time for a sharpeyed member to notice something is not quite right, a couple out here are actually good at that. The rules make it a little less desirable for drive buys. It only works though if we try and be consistent and people follow the rules. There are those in BST that we know are not going to do anything wrong but they have to follow the rules otherwise we cannot require someone we don't know to follow the same rules.

The rules we use were not my idea but suggested to us, when we implemented them problems almost vanished for a long while. Telling people how to get around them makes it easier for someone not intending to be a part of the community a chance to take advantage of it.

I really didn't mean to beat up on you like that but I am under a bit of stress and a few problems we had were costly for me time wise because I got involved in investigating them.
Being fluent in typonese is helpful when reading my posts.
