"The Colony" on the Discovery Channel

Latest addition to the Discovery Channel reality show line up. "Ten volunteers enter an experimental post-apocalyptic world where they must secure a shelter, filtered water and defend their new home." I'm re-arranging my EDC after the show,... :P

I watched it last night, it was very interesting and seemed rather realistic, definetly worth watching. They seem to have a good mix of useful people to. Cant wait to see next weeks episode.

I also watched it last night and thought it was pretty cool, nothing like Survivor.

I too, am guilty of watching and found it rather interesting, in a good way. I am rather anxious to see how they handle the looters without someone really getting hurt.
......for now I'm left waiting until next week

New season of The Colony is awsome. I love how they force the colonists to deal with so many different variables. The introduction of two new members was a nice twist. Last week ended with one of the colonists being kidnapped. Next episode should be interesting.

It was good. My brother told me about it.

I just watched a load of the clips and it looks too much like directed acting, sooooo not a reality show more a production team's idea of post apocalypse.

Agreed yam. While it is a social experiment some of the things that occur on the show wouldn't if the producers didn't order them to happen. Specifically the hostage taking of the model and the house being set on fire. I find it interesting that they are still holed up in the same house even though knowing others know where they are and are threatening them. I think I would have moved to a much more secure area and just went in and out of the building to make others think it is inhabited.

Either way, woulda, shoulda, coulda, you don't know what you will do until you are in that situation.

Well I definitely think that the first season had some of the best people you could ask for in a situation like that. A doctor, nurse, the handiest man I have seen, and many different engineers. This season has more realistic people together and seems like they are struggling more than the first season. My only true aggravation is how little exploring and recon work these people do.There are so many acres of building, shipping containers, and other structures are out there. There are tons of stacked shipping containers right by their camp and they never have shown them looking in them. The one time they did scout around they found a large selection of tools and supplies and got chased away by some men. I would take a group of guys and go searching every day and night for supplies and food.

They have zero defenses set up to take on large groups and I agree their shelter sucks. I would feel safer in a shipping container made from steel with no leaks than that crappy place they are in.

The new Windmill is really cool though!

They send in a mob of outsiders to steal their stuff but they really can't defend themselves since actually hurting anyone is out of the question. They should have been given some way to "neutralize" people, paintballs or something.
