    New Leatherman S4 Confiscated

I went to Costco yesterday and purchased the combo pack with the Leatherman P4 and S4. After we left the store my wife was driving so I opened up the package to inspect my new acquisitions. After looking over both new tools my wife said "which one is mine?". I wasn't sure if she was joking or not. She said "you don't want that pink looking one (S4) do you?". I told her she could have it if she really wanted it. She said "well, you don't need both of then do you?". I told her I was planning on keeping both of them, but she was welcome to have one if she was really going to hang onto it and use it. She asked what the differences were between them and it was clear to both of us that the S4 was the tool she should have.

I'm a little disappointed that I didn't even get to use the S4 before it got confiscated, but I am actually proud that my wife was mature enough to finally admit that having a multi-tool in her purse would be helpful.

I headed off a similar situation by purchasing a red S4 for my wife.

    That's cool.

My wife is slowly allowing me to add things to her keychain.

So far, she has a fauxton, an Inka pen and most recently a GID keychain fob.

She's actually quite happy with evertying.

A few years ago for Christmas I gave my wife a Micra. I got that "look" ,you guys know what I'm talking about. I asked her to just carry it in her purse for a while and see. She uses it constantly. Many co-workers come to her and ask to use it. She broke down just recently and said she really needed a pliers type tool also. That made Christmas a little easier. Not cheaper, just easier.

Nice job. Spread the EDC goodness.
Most of my family now carry SAK Classics & Fauxtons on their keyrings. My Mum & girlfriend even have Tritium glowrings on theirs.
My sister has a AA Mini-Maglite in her bag, & my girlfriend has a Nuwai-style LED light, Swisscard & Micra in hers.

They all STILL get abit "freaked" when they see proper knives, though, but theyre starting to accept that the blades & me come as a complete package.

At least it went to a good cause. I thought you were going to say that the TSA or someone had taken it from you.

That's the first thing I thought too.

Wifey first got a Spydi Lady bug in pink and a Maglite Solitair, then she absconded with a Micra and now she claimed the larger blue model of the Juice.
Now the Lady Bug is lame and my bright green Jester is history. She also has the Spydi that you have to move the scale to unlock as her "big blade"...Good to see my desire to be prepared is rubbing off on her.

As for lights, I seem to remember getting an Inova(sp) as "my" Christmas present and it ending up in her purse.

I've also been slowly moving my wife's way of thinking to the dark side. It took about 7 years, but she now has a Neatfreak instead of a purse, a Surefire G2, Fenix E0, Leatherman Hybrid for the garden, and a little generic multi-tool (what she really needs is a Juice). She has an additional G2 in her van and a little FoxLabs here and there.

The first tool I gave my girlfriend was a SAK Classic with her name inscribed on it. She used it all the time and her co-workers gave her lots of compliments on it. After that came the fauxtons. Her co-workers and family kept borrowing them from her so I had to keep buying more. I finally just bought her a pack of 20 to pass out. Then the the red S4. She loves it and always has it with her in her purse, and the SAK Classic on her keychain. Then came the Fenix L0D. Then a SAK Manager II. Then the NiteCore Defender Infinity. If this keeps up, she is going to have more stuff than I do!
