I planned to put the pals on horizontally. That way when opening it opens naturally down instead of open to the side which in my opinion would not be natural or as functional.

Ok here is a couple of pics I took tonight. The BIG brown truck dropped off all of our materials today and I set up to get ready to cut all of our projects out at one time. Hope you enjoy the pics... :woohoo:
I had to order all of the black material and get it in. I cut out all of my pieces so that I can cut everything out at once. Its much more efficient and less time consuming that way
http://www.edcgear.com/mat.jpg
The machine on the right is an auto cutter. I will place some plotter paper on my stack of material you see in the pic and then stencil out all of my sizes and shapes for each product. I have 10 pieces of black and 10 pieces of coyote tan and 2 pieces of Multicam. Each piece is roughly 60" x 60". The BIG boys do all of this on an expensive machine while small time folks like me cut them out the old fashioned way.

In case your wondering if I received your Paypal and or order; yes, everyone that has contacted me I have. My wife is working overtime trying to match all of the orders with everyone. So we are on top of it.

So when the bag opens, the internal pocket that runs parallel to the spine (the pocket on the right side when opened like a book) will have it's opening at the 'top' (in ver. 1) - nothing will fall out.

Just an update.
Well I'm under way of sewing all of our pouches and stuff right now I have over 40 orders to fill. WOW!
I have some more material being delivered on the 30th of November. Overlooked the need for some more coyote Velcro. It looks like I am on target now to start shipping out around the middle of the first week of December. I hope and my goal is to have these all shipped by the 15th of December.
So i would like to again thank folks for their business and also like to say thank you for being patient. I'm still alive and our project is in full swing. I'll try to get some pics up this weekend or thereafter.

Just an update.
I have been pulling some 10 hour days trying to get these done. I have a few finished but more importantly I have parts for about 15 of each color all finished other than final assembly.
I ran into a snag. For some reason the black zipper pulls they sent me don't go on right side up on the zipper. They go on upside down??? Anyways I will be on the phone with my supplier in the morning to find out what the hell that's about. So I probably wont have the right ones until middle of the week.
I should be able to ship some stuff out tomorrow toward the end of the day. I will start with Coyote Tan shipments until I can get the right zipper pulls and final assembly on the black ones. This snag wont let me ship in order of your placing an order as i had planned to do. Sorry :(
I will post shipments here or notify you guys individually. Not sure which yet.
Thanks for being patient guys. This is finally coming together for us. I'm excited to start shipping. ;D

So on the CCW kit - it has to be completely unzipped to access the pistol? Any way to install the zipper as to unzip just the side next to the grip? I want to use something like this for car carry, but don't want to have to completely open the pouch to access my pistol.

Hey Tradja,
Well a little bit about my world. lol
I have been working about 10 - 12 hours a day on the project. We took many orders and many custom orders. Trying to keep track of all that has been a chore. We are working off of 3 different excel spreadsheets to make sense of it all.
Usually Im up and around about 10 am and work off and on until about 3 am. Haven't been no where in a whole week. lol
Although many have been sent out There are still many to go.
I think I have about 3 hours labor in each bag so you can do the math. I'm working during a recession, looking at it that way I am very thankful to have the work. So is my wife. Thanks guys!
I spent about $1,200 for material. I have used maybe half of it so I will realize in investment with my next project. Although we will again have to buy more material when the next project is done. lol vicious circle.
Black seemed to sell well so it is a color I think we will keep. My goal is to get ahead someday and have items in stock. It seems insurmountable. We cut out 40 of each thinking there would be extras; But NOoooooooo! lol
There are some really cool projects coming soon. Wish I could just prototype all day and had employees to manufacture and fill the orders; Maybe someday. I'm a one man show, although I get some help from my wife and pets from time to time.
Im plugging along. If you haven't received your bag yet don't fret it may be in the mail and I'm still working on getting orders out. I will be working through the week of xmas to make that happen
My process flow for manufacturing and organization will improve as I continue forward. Then we will be more efficient and make more profit. ;D
Thanks again guys.

Another benefit with "to get ahead" would be gettin' the Battletec website up, too. You could show-off prototypes and stuff there (and maybe one day take orders!)
I think it would be worth it... you make some mighty fine products, sir. O0

Hey Matt,
I am really working on that. Being a one man operation it is hard. The positive thing is I'm a web designer or used to be. :lolhammer:
Now I'm a full time seamster. lol
What I have found is people buy my products then demand slows so then I'm making a new product to bring in more revenue. Im just having a hard time doing everything at once. Right now I'm just concentrating on finishing peoples orders as I am behind. I will be working through Christmas Week to make this happen. I have like 35 more bags to get out. :help:

Thank you for the kind comments.
Im pretty much doing this full time now. I was a Mortgage Loan Officer. Doing some hobby stuff on the side with the sewing for about the last 3 years. Of course my dream was to have a Nylon Gear business.
The Mortgage Business took a hit and I had some investment into that i wasnt able to realize upon; that made it unfeasible to continue in that trade.
Then I was able to land a job in web design = BIG cut in pay. That slowly turned into part time and then no time.
So here I am sewing in the basement.
Here is my logo for my new business name I will be using. I was able to procure edcgear.com

I can now stop staring a hole through the mail truck!
I loaded this rather hastily with whatever was close at hand for now; seems there's a pocket for every size and shape! I'll arrange it more thoughtfully when I have more time later this week.
I'm amazed at how much I can pack into it (there's plenty packed out of view in there, like an inch-thick Pocket Ref) and still close it with ease!
Great work, stormtracker!

Of course my dream was to have a Nylon Gear business.
Well, what are you doing right now? ;D Staying up til 3am sewing nylon bags for money isn't just a hobby anymore; you're making it happen!
I placed my order not because I really need another nylon pouch (or at least not 2 of them), but because I am excited about these designs and wanted to confirm to Mr. and Mrs. Stormtracker that ST's basement operation is a viable one. If you build good stuff, people will pay you to do it. IMHO, innovation, quality, integrity, and entrepreneurship are what our economy really needs. This is a way I can support those values.
Domainname and logo look good. It will be great to see it develop over time. ST, best of luck and continued success in 2010!

Received my kit(s) on Friday :woohoo:
I have to say I'm pretty thrilled to own some custom gear made by a guy pulling long shifts and late nights to get things right. Here are a couple quick pictures of my first test run:

Next to a Spec Ops Mini Cargo Pocket Organizer to show scale. Stormtracker also made that prybar sheath in the background. Oh, a UNIKIT or two fit perfectly into a Pelican 1200 Case.

OK, flash will have to do.  I got my small Unikit packed up.  I've got some MALICE clips on the way, but until then it rides in the top pocket of my EDC Spec-Ops T.H.E. pack.  The construction is impeccable, with tight, neat stitching.
Velcro strip is generous and wide:

Showing orientation of Velcro relative to opening:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v399/tradja/IMGP4326.jpg
Loaded with the standard junk that had previously been rattling around loose in the top pocket of my T.H.E. pack:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v399/tradja/IMGP4327.jpg
On the left you can see a folded bandanna, a thick wad of Gorilla tape, and toothpaste.  On the right you can see a tube of sunscreen and some other bulky items.  I suspected as much, but this pouch is VERY carefully designed and laid out.  I realize this more after loading it.
Even packed full of stacked items, it is still simply not fat:

I haven't exactly figured out what to do with the Large yet, but the Small is a winner.  O0  I look forward to future designs from Stormtracker.  I think he has his finger on the pulse of what a variety of us can really use.

Hey Cuso,
No, I haven't increased my prices.
I had so many orders that I found that I needed to standardized the pouch. The price you are seeing reflects the original pouch with pals. More than half of the customers requested the pals, Meaning; those that purchased the pouch with the pals paid no more or differently than the price that is currently listed.
If you want to order and do not want pals I will honor the price I offered without pals.
Hope that makes sense.
I had 50 + orders with every conceivable custom request. I had to use 3 excel sheets to figure out what everyone wanted and it did not allow me a smooth assembly line. Additionally I screwed up orders trying to make sense of what everyone wanted. This also increased my assembly time per item, because; I was unable to have a smooth flow as each piece was unique.
Thank you for the interest and let me know if you would like the pals or non pals version and I will happily accommodate you.

Thanks for the explanation, I forgot about the PALS option. It does makes sense standardizing the pouch, if there was so many requests for it. Thanks for the offer, I will take it into consideration when ordering mine..
Side note-
I find myself giddy with anticipation for receiving mine. Actually giddy. (Perhaps we should start a new thread that speaks to the psychological ramifications of the euphoria that accompanies waiting for cool packages....)
I ask myself- Will this be the one accessory I get that gets me better organized and thus changes my life forever???? (Stated otherwise- Is there room for personal redemption amongst all the webbing and pockets of this Unikit?)
Hopefully this isnt off-topic. We are speaking of a Custom Organizer who makes Customized Organizers for (perhaps sometimes less than) Organized Customers....I imagine many things will fit in these kits, not all of them physical:)

QFT! It is a fantastic product. And has certainly helped in organising my in backpack carry that used to be dumped in a pencil case. no longer do I have to dig through an over full case, I can just open and pick the item I need.

finally made up my mind. I just placed the order over at edcgear.com .
I went with black (no big surprise there as all but one of my bags are) but I finally decided to go with the large version.
I figured it so was easy (for me) to answer that bag question on the poll - "bigger bag with room left over" - was my answer...
so I just went with same idea on the UNIKIT.
Soon enough...I'm gonna get mine! :D

How about custom made, limited run for a start? Then I'd probably mention excellent materials, great communication and the knowledge that you have a piece of kit that'll last a lifetime and not fall apart in 3 months.
Your tone comes across as a little disrespectful and sarcastic also, but I'll assume you don't mean it so. You COULD always read the reviews on this forum.
If you don't want a custom built Unikit, stick to your $10 Taiwan made one.
Me, I can't wait to receive the 2 unikits and manbag I've ordered.

I'm trying to help a fellow EDCer by suggesting he put those very things that you mentioned on the website.
Lastly, if you lack the reading comprehension to understand that constructive criticism is something offered up between friends, then perhaps you should avoid message boards all together, and stick with watching FOX news.

I have had an overwhelming response for this item. I tried to help myself by narrowing the choices to just the Pals model.
Of course as luck would have it I have had many people follow up asking for the non pals model. I have added it back to keep my customers happy. I will have a little more work to do but I don't want to not be able to deliver an item customers want. So now i have the pals version and non - pals version. Hopefully this alleviates some anxiety.:grouphug:

Got a regular "unkit" a few days ago. I'll take pics once loaded properly. For those debating over the price, this is a solid made piece of gear. This easily beats many if not all of the high end boutique tactical nylon gear manufactures I've used in the past. (i.e. Tactical Assault Gear, Diamondback Tactical, Blackhawk, and others...) This piece would easily go for 20-30 dollars more if made by one of those guys. The arrangement is thoughtful, useful and his sewing seems top notch. This is a little bit bigger than a pocket organizer, perfect if you carry the same items in multiple bags, so you don't have to repack everything in every small compartment. Which wastes time and leaves you open to forgetting stuff. Thanks Stormtracker for a great piece of gear.

I just received my UNIKIT. Outstanding quality overall. I like the attention to detail such as the way the internal pockets are folded under the elastic. This gives extra support to whatever is in the pocket while allowing room for expansion. The kit easily expands for the contents. The central mount for a Flashlight (SUREFIRE in my case), is a nice touch because it can be removed from the kit attached to the flashlight quickly and it is just as easily reattached. Its going to take some time to ascertain the best loadout for the kit as I intend for it to be the transfer point for my required carry. Once I get it packed, this UNIKIT will transfer from my Maxpedition jumbo to my spec-ops THE bag quickly without any further thought. This was a great purchase and one I am glad I made.

Hi Stormtracker,
I'm very intrigued about custom ordering one of your Large Unikits with PALS. One thing first though ..... I've heard a number of folks say they've requested customized "tweaks" to their orders. Those tweaks interest me because I may wish to ask for them as well. Paying extra money is likely not to be an issue.
So I guess what I'm asking for is .... perhaps a list of the most commonly requested custom mods or tweaks from your customers.
Assuming of course that it is worthwhile for you to fulfill as well. :-)

Hello,
Unikits have become very standardized overtime. Many of the tweaks if they were worth keeping are already built in. For instance you want Pals, well the horizontal pouch needs to be upright when it is mounted so that when opening it the content doesnt fall out.
Common tweaks would be an additional row of elastic, no velcro on the outside, etc...
Go to the site and see on the front page the picture of the small Unikit. That is basically what the large one is like as far as pouch orientation goes.
Let me know if I can help you decide in anyway.
ST
Thanks for the detailed response, ST! That definitely helps for my future order. And I like that idea about ordering an additional row of elastic. The more storage options the better ...
Take care. I'll be ordering sometime in September.
Hi! These looks like what I need! A Question though, I read there is an integrated carry straps but how do they carry and their attachment points? I'm thinking a small tote sling that I can switch out to shoulder carry.. Also I have looked at a few threads and pictures and it seems there are 2 rows of pockets under the elastic loops. Is this correct?

Hello everybody,
I am still around. Per Arne with your advise here contacted me through email. I answered his email and we are rectifying his situation. Per Arne lives in Norway and it seems his package wasn't delivered. I am just finding out about this. People order and you ship and you never hear from them if everything goes ok.
Out of hundreds of orders It seems that only a small few are ever sidetracked or lost. I guess that seems to be an acceptable loss. I just need the opportunity to make it right when it does happen. Sorry for any confusion.
I am still making my products part time currently. Don't be afraid to order. : )
If anyone needs to get a hold of me please just email. Your emails will not go un-answered.

Hi,
Just after my posting here and some searching, I was able to contact him, and it didn't take him long to reply! Everything seems to work out perfectly and I am looking forward to received the "Unikit" soon. Thanks again!

Always great customer support from stormtracker...
And not a bad idea keeping in touch with him.
These hand made unikits are well worth the wait.
