I thought is best for folks here to understand how we manage production at Bark River.
We are a Small Company - There are a total of 17 of us.
We Consider Ourselves a Semi-Production Company.
We Batch Build.
In short - that means we build one model at a time and build a different model each week and sometimes two different models in the same week.
We make between 75 and 100 knives per day.
The Key to getting the handle that you want on an upcoming Production Model is to get your order in far in advance.
We cut handle Material over a month in advance of most runs of knives.
Once we make the Run - we usually sell through or even are oversold so it is very difficult to get a specific handle until the next run of that model.
The next run could be 6 months or even a year later.
We have more models that there are weeks in the year.
This is further Complicated by the fact that we also make knives for other Knife Companies.
At Time those orders take precedence over our own production and our production schedule ends up more fluid than ever carved in stone.
Communication with Jon will be vital to insure you get specifically what you want.
Please feel free to ask any questions you have and I'll try to get the answer for you.
Thanks,
