Got the GRODO in hand right now: WOW! Here's a quick review.

First remarkable impression is the lightweight, thanks to the alum scales. Even so, the little knife feels quite sturdy, with perfect fit and a very smooth action set just right. No blade play anywhere to be seen. I was expecting a more flimsy feel, not just because of the materials, but also because this is quite slim (both blade and scales), but since they are wide the whole piece is very solid.

Construction is very well executed, although the finishing touches are a bit rustic, with some slight assymetries and a hand-assembled note to it. In my opinion this adds to the charm of a custom piece, and work has been done where it counts: fit and function. All the pieces are rounded off, with no sharps edges (except for the cutting edge of the blade), making for a very comfortable ride in the pocket or hand.

The best part of this item is the design itself. The blade choil shape makes it impossible to close on your fingers if you are holding it properly, and the position of the hand falls in place quite naturally. I believe this is Ben Cardoso's best point, the design is truly well thought, and makes for a very pleasant knife to handle and use. It is even quite easy to open it one handed, holding the exposed area of the blade between thumb and index fingers, and using the ring finger to swing the scales out of the way.

The absence of a clip or lanyard hole, the simple high profile Torx screws, the natural simplicity of the knife gives it a lot of character, a note of honesty about what this is: a no-frills cutting tool, very much worthy of both being used to death, or appreciated as a piece of collectible handcraft.

I understand this to be something built some time ago. If Ben Cardoso has in the meantime gotten even better at his art, I expect true greatness to come from his future work, considering the high quality already achieved with the GRODO. Public congratulations are in order!

That was a sebenza graphic, and the owner find the knife not very funky :D. He send it to me in order to have something a little more rock n roll :D
It's totaly toxified with dremel and round file (more or less 8 hours of work) and heat anodized with a torch :D
