Hi there chaps. just wondering if anyone can help me out. I'm going on honeymoon some time next year to the Prague, in the czech republic, and while having been there a few years ago with my school, would feel uncomfortable walking around by myself or with my fiance/wife, considering neither of us know much (if any) of the language.

could anyone tell me, or point me in the direction of the knife carry laws for CR? or failing that, the laws on self defence and things like that.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks!

No firsthand knowledge, but here's a 2-year-old discussion of your question on British Blades. (http://www.britishblades.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9082) And here's the English-language website of Mikov Knives (http://www.mikovknives.com/index.html), located in the Czech Republic. Go to FAQ section for e-mail instructions; hopefully, would respond with an authoritative answer to your question. Here's (http://www.mikovknives.com/BasicInfo/basicinfo.html) a bit of info on the company.

HTH.

Thanks lugsalot.

cheers for that xbanker, i've managed to find some people in prague themselves on the britishblades forum, so thats a great help. looks like pretty much you can carry any knife so long as you're not stupid about it and carry something like a large fixed blade on your belt, which is brilliant.

Well, i think I can help you a little. You can wear anything you want, there is no special law, conditionong the wearing of a knife on public places, in the woods etc.. But there are few places with some restrictions - courts, sports stadiums (in case, you are a viewer). Also if you take a part in a demonstrations it is better not to carry anything usable as a weapon. In the case of self defence you can of course use a knife, but "the private defence may not be absolutelly evidently unsuitable to the mood and the time of attack." I think some kind of pepper spray (OC) or collapsible batton is much more better. But if you want to carry a knife in public, do this without drawing attention - it is considerate to other people. I personally wear a Sog Seal Pup Elite as my fixed CCK (Carry Concealed Knife), a Swisstool and a CRKT M-21 and never had a problem with it.

seamonkey: I've been to prague before, but it was with my old school, and so was never very far away from lots of people that i knew. While i'm sure many people feel safe there without anything, i personally would feel more happier with something in my pocket for those **** moments.

I'm planning on taking a few spare batteries for everything (camera, and my torch). are AA batteries hard to get hold of in Prague/ Czech republic?

el.Furioso: Thanks for that, i've had the same thing said to me by someone else, so i'm happy about it now.

obviously, i can't take any knife or weapon with me onto the plane, so do i just put it into the hold luggage?

if only... :(

i had an airsoft CZ 75 (BB/pellet gun) and it was the most comfortable pistol i've ever held. including numerous 1911s, P99's, berettas, desert eagles.... (all airsoft, but they're 1:1 replicas)

ideally i'd get a CZ 75 SP-01 tactical. it has a bayonette!

Yeah a CZ 75 SP-01 is next after my Benelli Super Nova Tactical. They seem like they are the shiz, I held a P-01 and fell in love. I now need a CZ. ;D
