After waiting more than a year I finally got my GloToob Lithium yesterday. Next week I have to do some flying and want to take the new toy, but I'm concerned that a clueless, powermad, or greedy TSA person might take it away from me when I go through airport security. Any advice?

It's just a light, you should be fine.

Yeah, and "It's just a water bottle, no problem."
(just kidding) :)

Yeah, I know... TSA= :(
Allow me to clarify what I should've said from the get-go: I've traveled with at least half a dozen lights on myself and/or in my carry-on, and only once they got a second look (and then it was because I spent tube of Blistex had fallen to the bottom of my pack and I obviously missed putting it into a ziplok bag, not because of the light itself).

OK, I am reassured. Thanks!

I've traveled many times with my lights also never had a problem...but usually get that "extra" search since they see a mass of metal in my bags ;D
The best part is when they try and turn one on...and get that lovely blinding light in their eyes heh

A little bit disturbing :
Privacy advocates obtained database records showing that the government routinely records the race of people pulled aside for extra screening as they enter the country, along with cursory answers given to U.S. border inspectors about their purpose in traveling. In one case, the records note Electronic Frontier Foundation co-founder John Gilmore's choice of reading material, and worry over the number of small flashlights he'd packed for the trip.

Although I've traveled about half a dozen times with some flashlight or another, I've not tried traveling with GloToobs... I would think they are not much different from the xray's view... just a resin body with LED and regulation circuitry and a battery.
A point to note tho: while I cannot find the exact regulations pertaining to this at the moment, I do recall that primary lithium batteries are not allowed aboard passenger aircraft. I know that US DOT in addition to US authorities on air transport, as well as international authorities on air transport have some regulations pertaining to lithium batteries... I think it has something to do with the amount of lithium contained.
anyways, like I said, I've flown about a half a dozen times with either a 1x or 2x CR123 flashlight and no problems thusfar.

I receintly traveled with 8 AA lithiums and 12 C123 lithiums in my backpack and not a single problem. I guess that 100 batteries can definitively raise a problem but numbers that are normal for your travel needs should be fine.

Still waiting on mine to ship. Any day now... any day now... *impatient*

I went through TSA screening twice last week without a blip. That's with a Fenix L1P, a GloToob Lithium, a Petzl e+Lite, and a half dozen spare batteries.

keep a self addressed padded envelope with postage on it with you - if you are concerned.
(If they don't like something - they will allow you to put it in a mail drop)
