Uncle Bill’s Sliver Gripper Tweezers
Ok, so this seems like a no-brainer. Tweezers. You get ‘em, eh, at Walmart, right?
Well yes, you can, but they won’t be anywhere near as nice as the Sliver Gripper! I didn’t think it possible to really LIKE a pair of tweezers, but I do! And it’s this pair of Sliver Grippers.

What you see is a small pair of very sharp and pointy stainless steel tweezers, attached to a holder that can be put on your keyring. Total length is about 2” when mounted, and about 3/8” wide. To remove from the holder, just squeeze the tweezers and pull out. To replace, just squeeze and push the pointy end into the slot until it ‘clicks’ in place.

They are very precise in their point of contact. You can grab very fine hairs, or splinters, or cactus thorns….How do I know? Ask my husband or my kids! I’ve already extracted splinters and cactus thorns from all of the above.

It is definitely a product I plan to purchase more of, and hope to get a set in every BOB, and 1st aid kit we have. It is available at www.EDCDepot.com, for $5.95.

Nice review and good pictures!

I have one of these too, in my PSK. They are very well made and would be perfect for keychain carry.

Thanks,
Dan

Great little tweezers ;D

I carry them everyday on my keychain - they're tiny so take up very little space. Great for undertaking small tasks such as replacing watch batteries, untying paracord knots etc.

I purchased these and wasn't sure how useful they'd be. I put a paracord lanyard on them and slipped them into the tiny sheath in my Atwood Tac-Strap.

When it came time to mod my new Nite-Ize Side Office by clipping a row of stitching in the back compartment, it was amazing how these little wonders got rid of the loose thread!

Yep, these are great. I put one of these on my wife's keyring, along with a Vic Classic SD in Alox (no tweezers), and an Arc-P. She just loves these tweezers!

I dipped the tips in a latex tool dip and then shaved off the latex from the very tips. The result is something that picks up tiny rigid objects more easily and yet the very tip can be still used for slivers, etc.

Do you have a picture? Would be interesting to see how well it worked out

That sounds really interesting. Forgive my ignorance: where does one get latex tool dip? Is there a brand name? :-[

Just added them to my "to-buy" list. I'll get a pair for each FAK I have as well.

Youshould be able to find it at Lowe's or Home Depot. I think the product is called Dip-It, and comes in colors like red/yellow/white,and maybe black.

Thanks! I'll check it out this weekend. Hope it comes in black -- so I can keep up appearances! ;D

it definitely comes in black, someone posted a photo of a necker that had been dipped in black

At my Lowes, black was all there was so it definitely comes in that color.

Here's how I use the dip.

First I dip the tips of the tweezers right up to the beginning of the hole. It's about a 10 sec dip slowly withdrawn. You don't need much material.

After drying for 4 or more hours I use a razor blade to clear the dip latex off the ourside surfaces. You don't need it there and you won't be able to re-insert in the holder with that layer on the outside. Then I use the razor to clean off the first 4 mm of the grip latex from the tip back. This leaves two pads of latex that can be used to grip hard items like tiny screws, etc. but leaves the fine hard tip at the tip for slivers, and so on.

You can also paint the dip on and save the shaving part (LOL), but I like the way the dip method mounds up.

nederick,

That is very clever!

Good work and thanks for sharing.

Now I might have to do that to mine :D

Thanks, Nederick! It does look interesting.

Looking at yours, I was wondering about also dipping the upper portion and then shaving all but two pads on the outside to provide a better grip for finger and thumb??

(I'm pretty new to the modding concept, and am enjoying what all the clever folks on the forum do.)

why not try that Dowtech. I like the idea of better Grip. You'd have to avoin d the area where the tweezers slide into the holder

Just browsing the review pages and came across this one. My wife is always in need of new tweezers, and on the way back home (to Charlotte, from Macon (Ga)) we stopped in ATL to the Brigade Quartermasters store :woohoo: I got myself a Ka-Bar last ditch kneck knife, I got her a pair of Slver Gripper in black. I have to say I was more impressed with the tweezers. So much so that I purchased a pair for myself later that week. The Ka-Bar is getting dusty on a shelf (I got a BM Vex and love it more than anything) and the tweezers are on my key ring.

I grabbed 2 pairs of these from ag russell when I ordered my razel
I have a pair on my keys, and my wife has a pair on hers
Now that I have them with me, I use them all the time
Maybe these could be another edcf store item ? - with the edcf logo
I know I would buy another few pairs, and stick them everywhere (gadgetring, wifes handbag, laptop bag, first aid kits) yea i would need a dozen pairs or so, and if i can support edcf doing so it would be great
