Safe Light Super Bright LED light
I’ve had Safe Lights before, and PALights too. But this version of the Safe Light comes closest to perfect of all. This light, (on left in picture) is slightly larger than a PALight, (on right) and slightly smaller than the old style Safe Light (in the middle). This size, while better than the old Safe Light is still a bit too large for a comfortable mouth-hold.

The new Safe Light is rubber coated, which protects it from drop impacts pretty well. If it is like the other two lights shown, it will be nearly indestructible! This light has a better removable clip than the old Safe Light and a much stronger magnet, so the light can be clipped on a belt or pocket, or stuck on a metal surface with ease. This version of the clip also rotates by clicks, and seems tight, so I don’t think the rotation feature will wear out any time soon. However, they chose to put the lanyard loop on the clip, which I didn’t like. I prefer the metal bail loop on the bottom of the old PALights.
This Safe Light does in fact have the best beam pattern of any version. It uses a flat lens, with no focus, so it is a pure flood beam. Now, it does NOT throw at all, but instead it provides a nice flood/spill beam to see your way at close range, or to light up my living room to see the toys that the kids left out to trip me in the dark! It is not a ‘bright’ light in the terms of a Fenix L1P or any of Surefire’s offerings, however it IS bright enough for it’s purpose in life—to safely light your immediate area.
This version of the light has the best battery compartment access of all their lights. It is simple, and robust. A simple 90deg turn of the screw will undo the hatch. They’ve done away with the two captured-screws bottom of the old version, and this is worlds better than the metal band on the PALight!

The Safe Light runs on the common 9v battery. It can run on non-alkaline, alkaline, and NiMh’s that I know of, and possibly other battery chemistries. It has several operating modes: They are Off, 1yr find-in-dark glow mode, 100 hrs low, 20hrs high, and 100hrs flashing high. Weight is listed as 3oz. It can be purchased with case colors of black, orange, or blue, and with LED colors of white, red, blue and green.
The Safe Light is rugged, long running, and kid friendly, kid safe, and kid proof. I like them, especially this newest flood beam light, and my kids love them. They haven’t even managed to break one yet! Now that is a true testament to the rugged construction of Safe Lights!
This Safe Light is currently available at www.EDCDepot.com for $11.99, and now comes with a free red led version in addition to the white led in a special Buy-1, Get-1-Free package.
