I'm going to start this without pics and come back and add them later. The reason for this is the wife doesn't know I bought another new flashlight. I can't very well be playing with it taking pictures and such without getting busted. :-X For future reference I'm not going to try keeping her in the dark again, it makes it too hard to play with new toys.
This little light is great! Especially since I am replacing a mag solitaire with it.
In terms of size it is shorter than the solitaire. It appears to be ever so slightly larger in diameter, but it is a very small difference.
One thing that isn't a small difference is the output. I haven't really been using the solitaire at all lately (just carrying it in my LM Wave sheath because it is a good fit), so I fired it up just before turning on the L0D. HUGE difference! The solitaire might light up a piece of paper on the desk in front of you, the L0D would light up the same piece of paper at 100ft.
Since comparing it to the Solitaire really wasn't fair I decided to compare it to my L2T. They were remarkably similar in output. The L2T does seem to throw a bit better though. Although I haven't tested it yet I would assume the runtime difference between them would be huge also. I tried them side by side at work yesterday with the lights off. (semi-dark warehouse, there are some skylights and a few lights that stay on all the time) Either one of these lights would be fine for navigating a dark building. I tried this once with the solitaire and it wasn't even bright enough to light up the floor in front of me (in all fairness it probably needed fresh batteries).
That's all for now, pics to come when I get the chance.

ddashner,
Hey, I'm wondering if you have laid low long enough ;)
Any chance on posting some pictures?
I'm starting to look into this light as a replacement for my ARC.
Also, any further thoughts on it would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Dan

There are a few pictures on this review over at Flashlight Reviews (http://www.flashlightreviews.com/reviews/fenix_l0dce.htm).
It's a superb EDC light. I have one on my keychain.

Thanks tinyblob,
I'm actually starting to look into the LiteFlux LF2 (video here) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kor7tVHj3zo&mode=related&search=).
Seams a bit more interesting to me.

Looks interesting but I bet with all that grinding, keeping the threads clean is a bear. Twisties and UIs (unless really basic) don't really seem to be the best combination to me.

Certainly an impressive light, i like that there are two power levels for each mode of operation... But i also think the threads would take a beating. That said, if the price is right...

I use the L0D every day with 10440 Li-Ions rechargeable batteries.
Since the 10440 is 4.2v the L0D produces on max more than 160 lumen (Imagine that!)
It is an amazing little light, hard to believe how bright something so small can be.

LT,
From what I have read on other reviews, the UI seems to be the big issue with that light. To me, it is very interesting, because I would spend an evening learning how to program it, then only play with it from time to time. Someone like me (I don't think) would have to worry about wearing out the threads. It would mostly hang on my keychain and only be used periodically.
Definitely a good point though... Just how much twisting can one of those things take? I would much rather prefer a pushbutton on the back side, as opposed to programming/selecting through a twisting mechanism...

Luigi,
The LOD's capabilities are impressive on high-octane (Li-Ions), but I am more interested in it's different levels on plain-old alkaline batteries. I have read several reviews about this light on CPF and from the beam shots (maybe it's just my monitor), I just can't tell that much of a difference on the various levels. Is there a clear, detectable change in "output levels" between the different levels?
Thanks,
Dan

Yes there is a detectable difference between the levels using either alkalines or 10440s, for example:
My Luxometer at random distance measures:
With a 10440 cell:
Primary = 300
Low = 130
Max = 670
With alkaline (Same distance of course)
Primary: 80
Low: 40
Max: 170

Pics as promised.
A little late I guess, kinda forgot I was supposed to take these.
Beam shots are my l2t on high on the left and the L0D on the right. They are high and medium, low didn't turn out so well so I skipped it.

Okay, I will be making a few purchases at Lighthound. Thank you for the numbers.

Yeah, I'd say that's a "slight" difference. :laugh: Impressive!

Yep it is insanely bright for the size with the 10440.
Now more than 2 months using it with 10440s and no signs of problems at all, since the batteries are unprotected I just charge them often what is also good for li-ions and everything works fine.
I'm waiting for my Liteflux Lf2 but I think they are different ideas so I wouldn't compare with the L0DCE.

It`s a great light. I lost mine a few weeks ago, replaced it with it`s larger brothern, the P1D CE. My overall impressions are the L0D CE is great for it`s size, however, if it`s worth it or not is debatable. The little single led keychain light I have preformed pretty good compared to the L0D CE considering the price difference, and the P1D CE, although chunkier and larger, is much much much brighter.

I don't use my L0D-CE (w/ 10440, of course) often, since I don't have it conveniently stashed (on a stuffed Keyper, sheathed in tube webbing :( ), but sometimes I take it out and just drool at the output. I think about stock Mags, then look at all the photons from the CE, and I think to myself, "I have more output than that in a light the size of my little finger!" It's evil, I tell you.
