Pocket Chainsaw review
Dave recently ordered us a pair of Pocket Chainsaws for our BOBs. We’d had the wire saw in the past, and been thoroughly unimpressed with it. This one however, is different. It is, like the wire saw, small and light. It comes with its own nylon carry pouch, with laminated instruction card included.

The saw is stored in a stacked spiral, and it is far more aggressive a system than the wire saws. This one has real teeth. You uncoil the spiral, place the saw around whatever it is you are cutting, and slip your hands thru the paracord loops. By pulling with alternating hands, you will rapidly cut into/thru your target item.

We used a scrap piece of wood for our test cuts. There was little saw chatter, and it cut remarkably fast & cleanly, especially considering we were simply standing on the scrap of wood leaned up against the fence.

The saw is coated with something to protect it from rust—I’m not sure what, exactly, but it’s definitely in the ‘white’. Clean up was just to wipe it down with a towel. However if cutting green wood, I expect clean up would be more involved.
This little saw really does deserve the name Pocket Chainsaw! It is well worth the investment. We got ours at www.edcdepot.com, and were pleased with their service and fast mailing.
