View Full Version : I feel like I am reading backwards!

This new format is throwing me for a loop! When I read a post, I like the fact that they read like a book---from top to bottom and go to the next page. With the new format, it feels like you are going to the end of the book and starting on the last page and reading backwards. Please change it back!

I just added this to our FAQ page (http://edcforums.com/index.php?topic=2225):
- Click on the "profile" link near the top of our screen (under the EDCF forum banner)
- Click on "Look and Layout Preferences" link on the left side of your screen
- Check/uncheck the box with the "Show most recent posts at the top." option (I have it unchecked, and the latest posts appear towards the bottom of my screen).

I've already changed my preferences, but is there any reason why guests see everything backwards? I only login to post, most of the time I am just reading. This is the only forum I've seen which is setup this way.

The threads are reversed, newest post at top, oldest at bottom. I'm used to the other way around. How do I fix this?

Got my attention too! Major weirdness until I discovered I wasn't automatically logged-in. I logged-in and it was fixed! It was pretty weird for a while!

We just had a software upgrade done, and there're a couple of things that still need to be cleaned up. LoWo is doing her best to get all the little graemlins under control again. Thanks for your patience.

Yeah it really put me off when I started here too. The reverse thread order as a default is very counter-intuitive, and should really be something that people opt into instead of out of as it is not how 99.999% of westerners read.

There is a default somewhere to be changed. PM me if you need some help.

..... and I don't know how I did it.
When I go to read a thread, the last post is at the top of the page, and the first post is at the bottom of the page.
Did I do something, or did you guys change something and I just missed the memo?

The second post on this thread should help.

Why are the posts now reversed i.e. listed with the latest posts first? It makes reading the thread more difficult.
you can change in your profile settings see this thread

"copacetic" I think that is maybe the second time I have ever heard that word used..... I am guessing if I hear it two more times in my life that would be allot..

Thanks for this post, I was very lost as to what was going on until I noticed the time stamps today. Figured I had just been drinking too much and couldn't understand the posts....then I remembered...you can never drink too much. :)

Still not fixed for guests. Probably important if you want to expand your member base.

And you know, I'm not doing that on purpose...there seems to be no way from the admin end to fix that...it's all user controlled!
So yeah, if you don't want to think you're losing your mind, please join us and regain your sanity. :idiot2:
Thanks Migs for clearing this up! O0 I'm fairly new here and that scrolling to the bottom of the page to read the first post was driving me nuts!

Thanks to all for explaining this issue. O0
I did start getting used to reading the posts from bottom to top. Now it is a little awkward to read top down :)
