View Full Version : Intermittant problem accessing edcforums.com

I could not access edcforums.com for a period of several hours last night (Friday, October 6). This has happened a couple of times before, but I don't see anyone else posting about it so I wonder if it is a routing problem.

I can ping and get a response from the server, but trying to view the web site through the the Mozilla browser causes a time out. I can view other web sites OK during the same period.

Thanks.

Anybody else had parnass's problem? I've heard of other members having this problem, but it seems very random when it happens. Just trying to gauge the extent of the "randomness."

It happened to me a lot last week/weekend. I use Safari as my browser. EDCF will either time out or take f-o-r-e-v-e-r. :)

I occasionally get a "Loading" messege(Firefox browser) and can't get on the forums, but it's been at random(usually latenight) and when I try later(minutes/hours), it works fine. I just figured it was some kind of server maintenance done at night preventing short term access. I rarely use IE anymore, so I don't know if it's browser related. And it's not often, maybe a couple times a week.

I've had exactly all of the problems mentioned above. The problem is sporadic and usually late in the evening. It seems to be happening more frequently the last week or two. I did make mention of it in a previous post (http://edcforums.com/index.php?topic=4162.msg53898#msg53898).

on and off, sometimes... sorry I can't be more specific. I'll make a note of when this happens next time and report back. It hasn't hapenned in several weeks, though (to me, at least), and usually a page reload solves it. It's not like CPF's flatline... :green:

For some reason, the only way I can access EDC forums is by using the Torpark browser. Firefox and Internet Explorer have been acting like EDC forums is not there, 'Cannot find server', 'Problem loading', 'file not found', etc... Everything was working fine last night, and I have no problems with any other sites, just EDC forums... I'm at a loss... I've tried it everywich way disabling firewalls and security software, but still not getting thru. I don't know why my IP might be blocked/blocking edc forums if that's what's happening. The Torpark browser is a portable Firefox version that allows anonymous browsing so the IP is random... This has been bugging me all day.... argh!

Strangely, EDCF is my 'just checking' bookmark when other sites fail to come up. I don't think it's failed me more than a couple of times.

Just wanted to post this so it gets documented. If this isn't the right plase for this thread, please move it.

From 1:35 PM to 1:55 Pm Wed 10/25/06 CPF was essentially dead. Attempting to connect to EDCF resulted in a relatively long delay (30 to 50 seconds) then just a blank screen. It seems to be back up now.

Just happened again from approx 2:45 PM to 3:10 PM PDT. Do we need a lifeline like CPF or is this problem fixable?

Thanks, Karen. I knew there was a right place to make this post, but I just couldn't find it. Somehow my mind just failed to make the connection from "EDCF welcome mat" to posting about network problems.

No prob.

Anyone else having problems with your unread posts disappearing? I'll have like two pages, and when I click on it again, most disappear (and I haven't clicked on or read them yet...).

I could not access the web pages at edcforums.com today at about 6:05 AM CST, though I could ping it OK. It finally worked after 2 or 3 retries.

It is now 6:45 AM CST and I am still experiencing intermittant problems. The error is 404 "domain name could not be resolved." Perhaps a routing problem.

I had the same problem at the same time. Seems to be working OK now though.

Ditto on today. One reload fixed it, and now all is OK.
