Hi-
I'm trying to learn how to post photos in a new topic. I can get the photos attached and inserted, but cannot seem to get text to associate with the individual photos--all my text comes together and then all the photos, even though I am using the "insert image" function in between my text passages. I'm sure this is easy--sorry to be a pain--anyone care to help a noob? (see my test posts in the practice area for an idea of the problem)

Thx.

That's because attached images are set to appear at the end of the post by default. Here's what you need to do instead:

- right click on the images on the test thread and select "copy image location" from the menu that will pop up.
- paste that into your post, placing [ img] and [ /img] (no space after the first bracket) around the link. You can also paste the link to the image, select it, and click on the "image" icon on the post editor window (the button looks like a little framed photo).

Regardless of how you do it, the code for your post will look something like this:

http://edcforums.com/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=4941.0;id=3021;ima ge

and the images will show up like this:

this is how I did step one:

http://edcforums.com/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=4941.0;id=3021;ima ge

...and the final result:

http://edcforums.com/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=4941.0;id=3024;ima ge

clear as mud? :)

Here's LunalTic's excellent thread (http://edcforums.com/index.php?topic=2766.0) on posting pics, BTW.

Thanks for your response. I think I follow your suggestions as they apply to an existing post with images. However, when I'm creating a new post, if I use the "attach" function to attach an image, there is at that point no image to right click on, so I have no ability to copy image location into the [ img] [ /img] string. Right clicking on the image path in the "attach" input box doesn't bring up a "copy image location" option. How do you do this when you're creating a new post? Thanks for your help (I'll follow your suggestion on practicing, too.)

You'll need an image hosting service; follow the instructions on Lunal Tic's thread I linked above.
