Anyone have any plastic shok buffs (recoil buffers) for these?

I don't have any experience with a Star PD, but I have seen a shok buff disintegrate and lock up a new Les Baer 1911. Its my belief that a shok buff might be fine for range use, but I wouldn't use one on a home defense or carry gun. They have a limited life span. JMO.

Here is a link to a little article on field stripping the Star PD if you need it:

Happy shooting.

with shok buffs in your average 1911 but the PD was designed with a proprietary version. It works fine without one but it does lengthen frame life. When Interarms went down the buffs became unavailable. Jack First in Rapid City had a special run made up but they charge an outrageous amount ($20.00 each!!). The normal 1911 version will work but isn't "captured" by the mainspring so isn't suitable for anything but target practice. Anyway, thanks for the replies, i'll keep looking. The Interarms stock is in somebody's warehouse, although even when they were still in business they were rationing them. I had to beg for 10 at a time at their office in Alexandria. Since Star went down too I have little hope of seeing any more. But , like I said, the gun still works fine without them. Cheers.

Moxie,
Can you take a pic of the part and post/email it to me? I haven't taken apart a PD in a while, so my memory is fuzzy on exactly the arrangement. I can go see if we have one floating around in our gunsmiths various boxes of discarded gun parts. The are some chopped gun kits so its a possibility.

You've probably already done this, but did you try Sarco? They have parts for things they aren't even aware of until someone asks. They had P9S .45 parts that they miraculously discovered when I asked.

Thanks, I did try SARCO and they don't have them. I can't do photos either, but thanks for trying.

Another good source for obsolete/discontinued gun parts is the former Numerich Arms, now called e-gun parts. This link will take you to the list of Star firearms:

Any chance the size you need could be dremelled (or exactoed) out from a larger size?

(hmmm. I have to question my verbs in that sentence...probably OK on EDCF though)
