Hi,
I'm looking for some spent casings to use for a project. I'm looking for something at least 1/3" in diameter, so I guess that would be like a .308 or .357. Maybe I can do things with .45 but I don't want to get too big. Preferably around a 1" length cartidge, but I can chop them down.
Can anyone supply me with these? I might be willing to send a few bucks to help cover shipping. I need about 20 of any given size, so it shouldnt be a big deal.
Please let me know if you can help!
Thanks,
Jerry

My wife shoots .357 about once a month and it was just last weekend, and I gave awy the empties since she does not shoot enough to make relaoding worthwhile. If you dont get any by the time she shoots again I will be glad to send some your way.

.308 and .45ACP use the same diameter case, so you're going to want something smaller like a .223 or .38 super

I'd be glad to send you some .32 H&R Mag's and M1 Carbine. They're both a little over an inch long and ~.308" I.D. PM me with an address and I should be able to get them in the mail monday.

If you are still looking for some please let me know. I probably have just about any type you would like in my buckets o' brass.

Mike,
Thanks for you offer, but I think I've got all I can handle for now.

What all do you guys use to remove the center pin from the cartridge? is there a special tool?

You can use a small finish nail or small steel rod to tap the primer out of the primer pocket. You just need something that will fit through the flash hole in the bottom of the brass case.

Note that if you run across some military brass the primer will be crimped into the pocket.

do you tap it from the powder side or the firing pin side? I'm assuming powder side.

Yeah, from the powder side. If there's a gunshop in your neighborhood, try and buy a Lee decapping punch. Get one for .223, as it will cover most cases larger if you improvise with washers or something under the case. If you are decapping live primers, wear safety glasses as in my experience one in a few hundred will go BANG!

Edit: did you get them OK? the .32mag were virgin, and the M1 carbine ones were spent with dead primers. (Also ground pick-up grungy!)

Larry, I got them today! thanks so much.

I opened it up and from the box wafted out a scent that reminded me of rifle practice.

: )

Thanks for the advice. I don't know of any gun shops in this area as NJ isn't exactly a "common-sense state" like its neighbor PA.
