Hi all...
I'm in the market for a good looking, rugged watch. I have been looking at these Traser watches and have done
a bit of research on them, but I know of no one that has seen them or worn them. Anyone have any experience
with these watches? Any personal info*or experience would be greatly appreciated.

I had the one on the left which was a Luminox. What I know is Traser, Luminox, and Smith and Wesson are all made in the same factory. They are good solid watches. Especially ones like you have pictured on the left. You get a lot for your money. The only run a little over $100. The tritium is a nice feature, but many Seikos are Citizens can be much brighter. It is just that Seikos and Citizens don't stay illuminated the entire night. But many have a usable glow for many hours.
So my suggestion is, if you are going to get a Luminox type watch, go with the one on the left. If you want to step it up a notch, go with a Seiko or Citizen. Those brands are the best you can get for the money, hands down. I learned a lot about watches from USN.

DH -
Excellent info... thanks... I've been also looking at some of the Seiko's, as I had one when I was in the AF... fine watches... I also appreciate your take on the brightness factor as I was led to believe that the tritium tubes would be brighter than any other illumination method... As far as Citizen watches go, I've had my eye on some of the Navihawk models for quite some time... I'll be looking at them again... so many choices... dang!!!

Again, thanks for the feedback...

Check this photo out. I have never seen a Luminox shine like this. It lasts this way for a couple hours only though as opposed to something like 10 years with a Luminox.

DH-
Thats pretty damn cool... !! What watch is that, if I may ask? As you might have guessed by my post, I am in the market for something I can read in darkness. That's why I thought the trits might be the way to go. As I also EDC a HDS B42XRGT light with me, recharging a luminous watch at night wouldn't be a problem.
Thanks for going to the trouble of posting that fine photo...

I've got the Luminox and have had no issues with the brightness, or lack thereof, for night-time use. My TAG Formula is about 10 years old, and the luminous hands are very faint a couple of hours before sunrise. As always, YMMV.

DH - Nice watch!!... Thanks for the link of your review... Your suggestion has me revisiting Citizen and Seiko again and I'm working on narrowing down the vast selection...

Deeker - Thanks for the info... I appreciate it...

Have the Luminox and my wife hates the bright light it gives off when I leave for work early in the morning.Bright enough for you? It's about three years old and guaranteed for 20 years of luminesence. It looks just like the one on the left however so if they're made in the same factory...go with the value.

I have a Traser, though not the one pictured, and I like it very much. I have the "Classic Automatic Pro" and find the lume to be exceptional. I am admittedly a tritium snob when it comes to wristwatches, because I do not believe I should have to "charge" my watch before I can read it in poor light. Sometimes you can't discreetly charge a watch, especially when you look down to read it in the dark and you can't! Imagine being in a movie theater thinking "Oh snap, this chick flick is *killing me*. How long until it's over?" You look down at your wrist and it's all black. Crap.

This doesn't add up, wearing a Traser Tritium tactical watch and watching a chick flick. I'm confused :(

It's a double feature, and the main attraction is coming on next. :santa:
