:help: Can anyone recommend a secure and comfortable ankle holster?* I've tried a fobus setup but it's bulky and not very comfortable.

Thanks

I have used an Aker Model 157 with my S&W 340PD for over two years. Very comfortable, secure and compact. I got it here: http://copquest.com/24-5800.htm

I have a Kramer ankle holster that I have owned for years. Very comfortable and it never shifts around on me.

Thanks guys.

I've heard good stuff about the Kramer, but first I've heard about the Aker. I'll have to look both up.

If you don't mind shelling out the money the Alessi's are top notch. I have one for a Colt Det. Special. It's all steel and I can honestly forget I'm wearing it. Super comfortable and quality work that will last for years, heck maybe hand down to my kids someday.

Here's a second for the Alessi. I bought one off Ebay a few years back and it is THE ankle holster...very comfortable!

Check your local laws....some states have slipped in laws that make ankle carry illegal..what a joke I know >:(

I have tried several made from leather. ALL of those that I tried are far too heavy for me. While wearing them, I felt the need to wear something on the opposite ankle to achieve a balance.

The only one that I will wear that I felt is not too heavy is the Desantis Apache Ankle Rig (http://www.desantisholster.com/062.html).

Od - Like most retired LEO's, I have drawers full of holsters that looked good at the time. I always found leather (although I love it in sheaths and belt holsters) was too heavy and inflexible for ankle use. That is why I went with the Aker for CCW. It is virtually weightless and very snug thanks to the elastic material. I wish they had this when I was on the job. ;D

GT,

Looks like we have the same taste in ankle holsters! ;D The The DeSantis Apache also uses the elastic material.

Not that I advise this, though I have used it (securely) for over 10 years, but the Galco Ankle Safe (now marketed as the Cop Ankle Safe) can be used as a perfectly good Elastic Ankle Holster. I've carried numerous guns in 2 of them since 1991 (God I'm Old! :( )

The Ankle Safe has the slight advantage of not being specific to any one gun. Well, of course not, since it's not designed as a holster!

A bit late, but..................

This actually carries a 442 extremely well, especially at the top of a boot.* Have never been able to dislodge it no matter how hard I try. Very slim, very light. After a couple of days, you hardly notice it. A regular pair of BDU's or dress slacks completely hides it.

And no, it's not really made for a gun...............

Sorry, don't have a pic of my own.

If anyone is still reading this, I work part time at a police supply store. We sell quite a few Galco's to LEO's to carry the Glock 27 in. Everyone complains about the price, but they are happy they spent the money when they start wearing it.

Uncle Mikes nylon ankle rig because it's tje only one I have found to conceal well. Works for me. Only problem with it, need to replace it every year and a half.

If I was buying an ankle holster, I would get an Alessi ankle holster.

I believe when I HAD an ankle holster ( and Glock for that matter), the one I had was a Galco. It was very comfy.

I've had a Galco "Cop" model for about a year now and carry a Kel-Tec P3AT or a Beretta Bobcat in it and it's quite comfortable and has a very solid velco strip for rentention. Ankle holster by nature are not the most comfortable, but this one feels pretty good. It has a nice padded suede insert that rides up against the ankle bone. I've found it's important to slide it behind your ankle bone for the most comfortable fit.
