View Full Version : Seecamp .32 California Edition
Anybody own one? If so, any pics you can post? I want to see what makes it a California Edition.

I don't own one, but according to the Seecamp website: http://seecamp.com/california.htm
"The "California Edition" is an LWS 32 that has been modified to incorporate a trigger blocking manually operated safety that fulfills the manual safety requirements of the State of California. Prerequisite to a pistol being subjected to the laboratory drop tests and functional reliability tests, which a pistol must pass in order to be approved for sale in California, the pistol must have a manual safety."
Hmmm... any of you have personal experience with this pistol or any recommendations for a pistol this size (not necessarily same caliber) that is California approved?
A safety is what makes it the California Edition. I have one, as that is the only Seecamp that one CAN get in MA. I LOVE my Seecamp!!
TKC,
Can you post a pic next to an easily recognizable item? ;D
TIA.
I have been seriously behind in my picture taking duties. I won't make any promises though. I will se what I can do. OK?
TKC,
Thanks. Whenever you have the opportunity. :)

Please do post a picture,I'm a fan of pocket pistols. Never have seen a Seecamp with a safety. To be honest don't know of anyone who has a Seecamp here in the Philippines.

I was able to find this closeup of what I think is the safety button, situated at the top of the trigger itself (found on GunBroker.com):

In my search for this image, I found some negative comments about the safety. Apart from being a superfluous add-on of dubious utility, some users have mentioned that the safety can get hung up in the pocket during a draw (exactly how I'm not sure). Anyway, this is further proof that the California State Legislature won't be content until they've fixed everything until it's broken. :(
I don't use the safety on my Seecamp. I am sorry that I have been seriously remiss in getting pix! I completely forgot!! I have never had the saftey snag on anything when drawing. I DO use a Hedley holster for my Seecamp. In MA., I CAN only buy the California Edition of the Seecamp. There is nothing wrong with the CA. Edition Seecamp!!
Lugs, thanks for the pic.
That safety looks like a weird afterthought. :(

I like the Seecamp. It is just too heavy to carry. If KelTec is available, the P32 or P3AT is the same size. I suspect 2 of the KT's weigh about the same as the Seecamp. The only negative thing about the Seecamp is it's weight.
The reason it seems to be an after thought is, it is. Just to make the Powers-that-be in PRK, happy. To quote the late Col. Cooper, "A perfect solution to a non-existent problem."
The Seecamp is heavy, but I love mine.

FWIW:
I have a KelTec P32 (and a NAA Guardian 32cal.), and I don't think my LWS32 weighs as much as two P32's... It's just personal opinion but I find the Seecamp to be much shorter than my P32, marginally heavier, but much easier to conceal. I guess talking in ounces "marginally" can be seen as great or small, depending on the viewer. I can tell you without a doubt the Seecamp is absolute top quality and has a wonderful reputation for reliability over the long haul..
My KelTec P32 has been perfect right out of the box... Still, because of all of the problems you hear about on the Keltec forums (KTOG & KTRange) I simply have never been able to have full confidence in mine. That's not a fault of the pistol itself, its me. I keep waiting for it to burp.
I DO know that when I got my first Seecamp LWS32 my wife wanted it for her conceal carry weapon.. She did not care for either the NAA or KT already available to her.
I recently purchased JoAnn a Seecamp LWS32 of her own and she is well pleased with it.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion, and this is just mine. Not trying to be confrontational.
Best Wishes,

My Seecamp goes with me every where I go!! I am extremely happy that I got one.
And just because it has that safety, doesn't mean it has to be used!!

Here's an old shot of mine (no safety) next to one of my watches. Hopefully, this will give you the size comparison that you are looking for. The diameter of the BS is about 39mm's. Nice little gun, but I don't carry it very often. Too many larger caliber alternatives available that can be almost as easily concealed. My little S&W Ti snubby, for example, is lighter, not too much larger, and packs a little more punch.
Thank for graciously posting the comparison photos. O0

Cool pics, SRT150! :highfive:
Been a while since I've seen a Hip-Grip on a Smith; does it ride IWB or in a pocket?

I carry it behind my right hip where it rides very comfortably for me. Its Ti/aluminum construction makes the 340 very light, but it's a bear to shoot accurately-especially with the Hip-Grip! I've never been a pocket carry guy, except that I'll occasionally put my Seecamp in my right back pocket.
