hello from houston.... i have been carrying concealed for about 7 yrs now and for the past 4 it has been a sig 239 with hogue wrap arounds and custom de-horning by me.. i usually carry in a "pager- pal" iwb holster over my lt .side and as an alternative, i sometimes carry on custom made bikini- belt slide. recently though i saw a fobus iwb paddle holster and thought it might be something to try.. looking for your input ..good and bad on the "fobus"

Well, I've never used a FOBUS IWB holster but I'll give you my thoughts on IWB in general. I think they are are pretty much the same, basicly a pocket to keep the gun secure inside your waistband. They all work equally as well if that's how you want to carry. I use Uncle Mikes products because they're cheap and functional. Before I go to an IWB, I'll take a UM's nylon paddle. It holds close to the body, allows air circulation to avoid rust, and for full concealment, untuck my shirt. Works like a champ. And I like the velco closure strap, no metal to scratch anything and it's removable. I find IWB cumbersome but I'm a big person. For me to carry comfortably IWB, I pretty much have to go up a waist size on my pants. This is not helping you at all but...I found the holster in question on the net doing a google search. Priced form 10.99 to 20.00, hell, it's nothing special and cheap enough. If you hate it, toss it in the junk box and try another. Just my 2 cents

i like uncle mikes as well.. for me .. the attraction to a paddle holster is the speed and convience of just grab and go..... when i was alot heavier (almost 100lbs) the most comfortable carry was in the small of the back iwb
thanx for reply

Sorry to say this, but all the guys i know say that fobus is junk.
If you have to have plastic/kydex, go with bladetech or comptac.
Or just go with leather pancake. I have a don hume.

I have one for my Sig 228. Works fine for me. More comfortable than IWB and holds securely.
Draws very fast too.
However I do not find it too easy for on/off. Paddle has two little "teeth" type protrusions that help to keep it secure to the pants/belt, and I have to insert a finger between paddle and material to remove it. But this is part of what keeps it secure and in place. And it may be that I wear my belt a little tighter than intended.
I like them, will eventually get one for my snubbie.
I prefer leather holsters but a friend of mine "Swears by them..."
He has one for "Several/ each" of his pistols.

I find that I have been more satisfied with spending twice the money on a good pancake holster that will retain and conceal my weapon better than a Fobus. Fobus gungrab (http://www.moveshoot.com/Media/Videos/gungrab.mpeg)

I carry a Glock 21. Over the years I have tried shoulder rigs, hip holsters, SOB, leather, nylon, etc., etc., etc., but the Fobus paddle holster is the best and most comfortable holster I have found. The paddle is so thin (compared to my Uncle Mike's), and fits so well, that I couldn't ask for better comfort. It holds the gun securely, yet comes out smoothly with a quick, strong tug. I'm sold on them and would recommend them to anyone. Plus you can't beat the price for a quality holster.

On the positve side Fobus is inexpensive, well made and available everywhere;the down side is that after a couple of years of regular use (daily not occasional) they get loose, but hey you've only put a little cash into it.

i taled to a guy aboutthat very problem.. ALL kydex holsters will eventually experience some degree of loosening... i was told it was fairly simple to reheat the holster insert the gun and have some method of "squeezing" the holster and hold it a minute till it cools and then check for more positive retention
i was told............. :D

I have owned many holsters and the fobus is really one of my least favorites. Kydex in general is not very comfortable for IWB carry. Its like carrying a hard plastic brick inside your belt. The nicest IWB holster I have ever had the pleasure of using is the Milt Sparks Versa Max II. It is very pricey but it was really comfortable, held the weapon secure, yet was fast to draw from. And it concealed my pistol (sig 228) very well. I ended up selling it when I parted with the sig but I have wanted to get one for my current carry glock 23. For that I am using a Kramer horsehide IWB or a Galco summer something or other. They work ok, but not near as nice as the Versa Max. I rarely carry my gun much anymore. If I carried it more I would have no trouble investing in the Versa Max. In fact I would probably carry more if my holsters were more comfortable :lolhammer:.

Why would you spend $600+ on a pistol and then carry it in a $20 pos? The Sig deserves better.
I've had no good experiences with Fobus. They're way too easy to break. Go with Blade-Tech. They make a holster for any kind of carry you'll want. If you decide you don't want kydex then I would suggest Kramer leather. Both very good manufacturers.

I carried my Glock 22 in one for about two years and never had any problems. The holsters are great for what they are - don't expect them to hold up like a custom job. Use them until you can't anymore, throw it away and spend $20 on another one! :)
