I wonder how they get around the "short barreled shotgun" laws with the pistol version. Maybe it's just a CA thing....I'll have to do some research, but I'm pretty darned sure that this is a No-no in CA (of course, what isn't?).

They are kind of cool. The little survival unit I always liked, and I think it might be out of production, was Marlin's "Papoose". Any of you all remember that? Had a take down bbl that fit into the stock and that served as a hard case that floated. Came in .22 and 9mm I think. Pretty cool idea I thought at the time. And in two calibers that might be easy to scrounge up after the nuclear holocost.

IIRC if the action was manufactured specifically for a pistol and has never been used for a rifle you can get around the rules for a sawed off rifle and the .410/.45 LC barrel is rifled the same way that the Thompson Contender is thus getting around the sawed off shotgun rule.
