Opened a bottle with my Prybaby at a BBQ the other day and actually broke the glass off at the top of the bottle . A chunk of glass was still attached to the cap as it hit the ground. Has this happened to anyone else ?

Sounds like the PryBaby did it's job! :D

I saw all kinds of strange breaks in bottles when I was a kid. My grandfather ran a small country store most of his life, and he always checked the bottles for defects. It's amazing how glass can have a crack all the way across, yet it can still contain a fluid. At least, until a bit of pressure is applied. He hated cleaning up spills, so he checked each soft drink and beer bottle as he loaded the drink cases. I got to help him, so I had to learn to look for the defective bottles.

this happens to me all the time with beer bottles. but it usually ends up in the drink instead of on the floor. >:(

Yeah I can't say that has happened to me but if the bottle is defective that makes sense.

I open my tonic water bottles (for the gin) with a Prybaby XL, as well as my beer bottles. Average one per day. Never happened.

It's always the bottle's fault. Never the prybaby. Trust me on that!

I bet the Prybaby didn't agree with your choice of lager! :)

 Add one to the list of uses for a Prybaby. Beer testing! Proof that every beer critic should own at least one.

As an aside, what beer were you drinking?

Near beer... :lolhammer:

I've only drank Guiness for about a year now.

I had a St. Peter's Golden Ale last night. There are about 6 flavors of this brand at my well stocked local package store. Brewed in England, it has that incredibly delicious proper British flavor to it. Cool bottles too and I have yet to break one wiht my Prybaby. :)

I'm actually quite fond of Guinness and its relatives, Smithwicks and Harp, depending on my mood and how hot and thirsty I am.

I'm also a fan of Yuengling Lager, I can drink Heinecken (though only if properly stored so as to avoid skunking) and I have a soft spot for wheat ales on hot summer days.

I also enjoy Sam Adams's Black Lager and Boston Ale (the more common Boston Lager, not so much.) Their Oktoberfest is superb as well, pity it's only around for one month out of the year!

that happened to me once, i opened a ale-8-1 with my Prybaby, but the bottle was a twist off, hence the threads snapped off >:(

I open twist-offs with mine all the time, without problems. Any excuse to use the PryBaby is a good one!

I broke the first bottle I tried to open with my prybaby today but the second bottle had no problems. I'm discovering it takes a bit of finesse.

C'mon! You've got to be kidding me. I have not gotten one report of this except for you two guys in 5 years of Prybaby making.

It's the bottle, belive me. Corona beer, for instance, is notorious for breakage.

Dumb question here, are these screw tops that you're opening with the bottle opener? I can't even remember the last time I saw a "real" bottle cap, i.e. no threads.

I don't drink beer so I wouldn't know about the threaded caps. However, I do envy you guys that get to break bottles with your PryBabies. ;D

screw-off means you use the underside of your forearm push it against your forearm and twist pops off and you look cool doing it

Well,
I don't pay attention to whether a bottle is regular or twist-off anymore. My pry-thing pops 'em off all the same :)

Yep. :agree: What he said. And I'm giving my old Lone Star church key a rest.
