Just found this by accident for the rest of you TITANIACS! Neat little thing that is a bottle opener with a screwdriver. Must have the weight of air being so small. And it's titanium!

Don't tell me that, now I'm gonna have to buy one (even though I' have a salvaged Victorinox bottle opener on my keys already)!

Now that is low tech! I love it and it probably works great. Before the Prybaby, the titanium key tool was my EDC screwdriver/bottle opener.

Looks like they copied the Victorinox opener right down to the little notch but then made the end rounded like a key. Not much imagination there but it looks like it works fine.

Your right Peter, but this is before I knew about the Prybaby. Forgive me for my sins Boss!

I had to order one :lolhammer: I* love key shape stuff. I have a Ti key shaped knife, too. The problem is that it came without a sheath.

Man, that's pretty much exactly what I've been looking for (short of a Mini-Prybaby in Ti). I'm just finding it a bit hard to front over $30 (with shipping) for a little mass-produced keychain bottle opener :(. I might have to cave, but if anyone can find this item on the web for less $$, be sure to let us know!

Yeah, I caved :D. That didn't take long, did it? ;). I've always loved the shape of the Victorinox bottle openers- they just seem to open bottles easier than anything else. I've also been looking for something in titanium that is truly "key" sized and will fit seamlessly with my keys. This item fit all of my criteria to a tee (except for the price, which I still feel is a bit high, but I'll just skip a few drinks at the bar ;)). I'll post a "mini-review" when I get it. Thanks for the tip.

As an aside, another nice looking Ti bottle opener that I was looking at can be seen here:
http://www.bikeschool.com/emporium/index.cgi?d=single&c=UBI%20Souvenirs&sc=&tc=&item_id=PG-BIG&id=66260132140

and the price is right (although shipping makes it about $20). Of course, it doesn't have the screw driver and won't fit quite as flat with keys, but it looks pretty nice.

I'll try and get one in the near future. At the moment I'm dealing with an ill Dad and my wife is the computer literate picture poster.

Very nice. But it would be redundant in a world full of titanium prybabies.... :P

In the second pic, you can really tell that the Ti is nice and thick :). I think I'll be glad I ordered one (last Thursday). I got an email stating it would ship that same day, so if I'm lucky, I'll get it tomorrow :D. I don't think I'll be setting fire to it, but I can "Christen" it by using it to open a beer or two ;).

Yeah, I was at work at the time and forgot all about it.
You first have to get a hold of an blow torch. I have a MAAP that I bought at Home Depot for $30. Then you spray the Ti with WD-40. After that, you just light it up! It's that easy. The longer you heat it on one particular place, it will go through a spectrum of colors. And if you don't like your final coloring, you just Scotchbrite the surface to remove the color and go again.

Not at all. You can get titanium glowing and it will return to its original shape.

Very cool, and how permanent is it?

Also, aside from screwing around with temper, this wouldn't work on steel?

Anodozing is only a few micron thick, so even though it is durable, in time, it will wear off some. But the good thing is, you could just put it on again. Also, there is no tempering with titanium, so it doesn't affect the hardness of the titanium. And yes, don't try it on steel. :)
Anybody with a MAAP torch can do this. You don't have to be handy or have any artistic talent at all. O0

Just wanted to mention that my tool came today! It is just what I have been looking for and is pretty much guaranteed to live a happy life on my keychain for years to come. The build quality is very robust, yet the piece is incredibly light weight. In case anyone was wondering, the unit itself is completely unmarked (which I like- very utilitarian) but the small ziplock pouch it comes in says "Material Specialties Scandanavia, Inc." Not a surprise, considering Scandanavia is known for quality products (and Skagen watches have an extensive Titanium line). The natural finish has a darker matte "gunmetal" gray color than in the picture on the site which looks more like steel. At this point, I feel this purchase was worth the money :). Great find, Death's Head! Thanks for bringing us the link.

I don't remember where I saw it, but someone had played around with the finish on their Ti Sport and even added some G-10 scales to it.
It turned out fantastic.

I noticed that to. When I put a ScotchBrite finish on mine, it did take off the burrs though. I guess titanium is that difficult to cut or something.

The screwdriver on mine is straight with no burring, but I did notice that the bottle opener "hook" is a little lob-sided- you can see that it angles to the left when you look at it straight on. I'll admit (being a bit OCD here) that it bugs me a bit since the entire hook of metal used to open the bottles is on the small side, but it seems to work ok so far and I don't figure that the aluminum caps are able to damage/errode the Ti much.

I myself think that it is a great tool for the price. Because it seem pretty sturdy and the Ti is pretty thick. I really like the size too.

I received mine this afternoon and look forward to customizing it. I was not expecting it to be so thick (mine mikes at .123", I was expecting .075") . I'm pleased with it being such a rugged light-weight tool. I've filed the draft angle that it was cut at ( I'm assuming a water jet was used) and removed the chatter off the screwdriver tip with a file and sandpaper. I'll try anodizing it using the battery/diet soda method. It has definitely found a spot on my keychain. I wish it cost less so I could get a couple more soon.

Funny story with mine. I sent off to Asia to buy mine because I didn't know where to find them in the US. The lady I bought it from in Asia got it from Russia, and now I find it here in the US! I sure would have saved a ton of $$ if I would have known I could get one here. I have two of them and I would like two more as backups. I really do love these little gems...
