View Full Version : Keychain carry ideas?

I've been contemplating the notion of expanding on my keychain with a few more tools, or possibly coming up with two keychain setups (one with keys and an Arc-AAA and a second with assorted tools.)

I've found that pocket carry of a keychain can sometimes be a pain, though. If you need ready access to your tools, you don't want to have to go pocket fishing.

Any ideas for easily-accessible, discreet, quiet keychain carry, on a belt or somewhere other than one's pockets?

I am looking for the same thing. I think i'm probably going to go with a dual phone/key case. I have found a couple, but nothing that I like yet. I only carry a Mini Prybaby XL on my keys, the rest of the items will go in the dual case when I find it.

This is my system, I carry my keychain attached to the belt and hanging loose into my front left pocket for easy access.

I had the same problem. Keychains with tools don't always carrry FLAT, which is a big disadvantage, and can get disorganised if there's too many tools on them, no matter how small.

My solution was to buy a small gents leather manicure case. It's quite flat, about 6cm by 11 cm. Removed and got rid of all the manicure accoutrements, and to filled it with useful bits like a Space Pen, Uncle Bills Gripper Tweezers, small screwdriver, small modified steel rule, small nail, safety pin, very small penknife, toothpicks (there's still a bit of room for more bits should I decide to add to it). It rides flat, is small, and very organised and allows me to use these items quite frequently from a jacket pocket. If you buy a good quality leather case it also looks quite cool.

This is what I do. I can't stand carrying keys loose in my pocket, they always tend to stack with everything that's also in the pocket or even just with each other, very uncomfortable when sitting (or standing for that matter). When they're attatched to my belt and then tucked into my front right pocket though they don't stack at all, they don't bunch up at the bottom of my pocket, even when sitting down I don't even notice my keys. And my keychain, while not as impressive as some I've seen here, is still cause for my wife to roll her eyes. :D

I don't have pic handy but here's what on there right now:
-256MB USB flash drive
-BSA hot spark
-pill fob w/ 3 tindertabs
-pill fob w/ 5 Advil
-car keys, house keys, other assorted keys
-LED light
-RES-Q-Me combo window punch/seatbelt cutter.

Gadget Guy,
How does that Mini Prybaby XL fit in your pants pocket with the rest of your keys? Does it stick out much? (as it's not flat)

I'm been going back and forth on which one to get...Mini Prybaby or Mini Prybaby XL. I want to put it on my keychain, and the regular Mini looks like it will work well being 2.5" and flat. I am unsure about how the Mini XL will "fit", but I really like the extra leverage idea of it.

With the XL in the pocket and on a keychain, does it "stick out" much? or uncomfortable against the leg? (assuming you put your keys in your left or right front pants pocket.)

Is there anyway you could post pics of you Mini XL? (as I'd love to see how it looks in the real world on a keychain)

Thanks in advance.

Hi Ed,

I now have about 12 Atwood items and the mini XL Prybaby is the one I carry on my keys. It is the most comfortable of all the items I have carried. One tip is to make sure that you put the Prybaby on it's on key ring and not mixed with your other keys on the same ring. I haven't has any problems with it catching on anything or jabbing my leg. I even carried the standard XL without any problems. I hope that helps... ;D

Thanks Gadget Guy,
it does help. Now I just have to wait until Peter makes more mini XL's.
The wait: the hardest part.

I'm not sure, but I think Peter said they might be ready this week? I want another one for my Brother. Glad I could help...
