What is the one fifth from the left third row down. It looks like someone took a wadcutter and cut a slot in it.

I can understand hollowpoints, jacketed, slugs, and plastic tips, etc., but what is the function of some of those? Seems to me they might not travel too well. :-\
Please educate a rimfire varmint hunter... :)

The 45acp with the slot is a Jim Cirillo designed safestop. It is a full profile bullet designed for head shots as Jim was so fond of.
Some of these rounds are kevlar defeating, explosive, Hard Armor piercing,pre-fragmented,frangible,1 is a vietnam era tungsten shot round in 45acp used by the tunnel rats for head shots,1 opens up into 4 spinning blades, and on and on.
They are made of things like carbon steel, brass, plastic, tungsten, bronze, beryllium copper, nytrillium, composite compounds, blended metals, and on and on.

Those are so cool.* Where do you find stuff like this?
99% of the really cool AP rounds were made illegal to mfg but not to own by the PPA of 1986 so they have been very rare for a long time.
I was really into ammuntion testing in the 1980s and got most of the rounds when they came out and sadly only saved 1 of each and burned up the rest and threw away the boxes. :(
That's cool. Your ammo collection is awesome, thanks for posting it up

PROTOTYPE...190 GR  RARE as hens teeth ;) and makes a geiger counter crackle like mad...depeted my As*
Most DU rounds are 20mm and up...their are few 50bmg and .308 I have seen ...9mm is the smallest caliber I know of .

Jeez. I thought my buddy was a hotshot back in the day when he scored himself a quantity of the old +P+ 110-grain .38 Special "Treasury" loads. This stuff is downright sci-fi!

LOL ! ;D
99.9% of exotic ammo is sci-fi....its a over hyped joke. The old school 110 gr rounds will work better than most crazy exotic rounds.
Here is some sci-fi The US Goverments SPIW .untold Multi millions were put into this round and for the most part it was a failure.

Dang, you are a wealth, alwilliam! I remember reading about the SPIW round in either PopSci or PopMech when I was a kid. This is the closest I've come to seeing the actual article.

If the day was calm with no wind, rain,etc... the SPIW was a killer at 4800 fps .... you could not wear enough armor to stop it.
If a raindrop hit it it went wild and was useless. The US really wanted it to work and just kept pumping cash into the spiw project for years.
The scmitar(flying razor blade/knife) was a design that worked along the same lines but was never really looked into. I have a ultra rare scmitar 45acp round and a 20ga ...need to dig them out :brickwall:

Hey, Am I mistaken or is the 7th dwon, 4th in from the left a Lemas Blended metal? Now there is an impressive round. I get to play with those every couple of months, I think they said for .40 was coming out at6000 fps, or was that the 5.56? Well it was either 4500 or 6000 fps, and out of a hand gun...that is so cool, i love those guys

DU rounds are not avaliable for non-goverment sales of any type. They will fire from any standard 9mm firearm. The 9mm in the pic is a protoype and production rounds may or may not be in use at this time.
DU is highly pyrophoric and it self sharpens .It burns at about 3000°C after impact forming uranium oxide ....nasty stuff in any caliber. We call it the gift that keeps on giveing.
The round is a Lemas Blended metal..(good eye) its a real version made with tungsten and other metals. Most of them that are sold by LeMas are bait and switch fakes made of nothing more than lead.....bad company IMO !

Al,
Last I checked, they were only for sale (Lemas) to LE and Gov organizations. I hadn't heard they were being sold anywhere else, if they are, then I am glad they are switching, really hate to get those out in the public. But if they are doing it to LE or OGA's then I would agree with your assessment. Do your sources specify?

Read The sad truth about RBCD...The real tungsten blended rounds were only sold for a short time, very early on...almost all their ammo is fake/lead ball.
FWIW...DOCGKR is very trusted in my book.

I don't question your sources at all, and it sounds disturbing, but I did send a PM with my experience with the rounds, not the producers

Actually, this load was a bit lackluster in comparison to most of those exhibited here. It was no more than a conventional lightweight hollowpoint that was loaded to higher velocities.

Actually, this load was a bit lackluster in comparison to most of those exhibited here. It was no more than a conventional lightweight hollowpoint that was loaded to higher velocities.
But there was a time when this load was so overrated and coveted. As a teenager in the 80's here in the Philippines I was in awe of a neighbor's model 67 Smith loaded with such rounds, he got a box of them along with the gun from someone who worked at the US embassy, He never could figure out why I was so in awe of them...
...there was a time when this load was so overrated and coveted.
Ahhh, the effects of low supply and high demand...
