According to Paul Harvey the Japanese got word that North Korea was going to launch a missile with no warhead at the USA just to prove to us that they can do it. :(

I knda doubt ol Paul's sources, but... I have a feeling that if NK did actually try this stunt, that our administration would react before we knew whether or not it actually had a warhead. There'd be some cans of sunshine being opened with expediency!

I'm surprised that North Korea's benefactor ( People's Republic of China) hasn't slapped them in line :spank:

That would be a grave mistake on the part of the North Koreans...

And you'd think that China, would have more control. There is such a close working relationship with china, if China invaded North Korea tomorrow. The biggest thing the North Korea Army would do is change shoulder patches.

I think it was Gorby that said the N. Korea was what China likes to use to do things they are not ready to dare do themselves yet.
Kim Jong is certainly a nut case.

Looks like we may have to learn how to EDC SPF 20,000,000 sun screen lotion. *Anyone not wearing it is going to have a VERY bad day!! :o

If the expected range of these is just to the West Coast, Middle America might be a good place to be.

If they hit anywhere, they won't regret it for long not long at all.

I'd be much more worried about a high altitude detonation of a nuke. EMP is a bad thing in our electronic society.

I need to do some reading....an NK preemptive strike...what are they talking about preempting.
The other story was launcing an unarmed weapon as a demonstration. I wonder how we would know it was unarmed. It seems risky to shoot across the bow with a dummy weapon like that, things could get a bit tense. Perhaps if they did, some unknown missile intersept system might become known in a jiffy as it gets swatted from the sky.

Now we have to learn how to insulate our pockets, fannypacks, shoulder bags & backpacks from EMP :-\

I think CNN timed this article (http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/05/24/missile.defense.ap/index.html) just for NK.

I just realised something. What if their target isn't isnt the left coast, but PEARL HARBOR???? Imagine a nuke landing on an island that doubles as an active volcano??? :o A nuke strike there could cause a major tectonic shift that can have a negative effect on the left coast of the US,.to Canada( a US ally), to Japan(note: Korea has a long standing historical animosty to Japan), all the way to Taiwan(a US ally), and the Philippines(a US ally).
Talk about a major power shift!! :(

They fired one over us here in Japan a while back and the Japanese didn't know anything was up until the splash, not very encouraging. Every time Japan plans to put a eye in the sky to keep apprised of missiles etc. NK gets all bent and says that it's an act of war.

I am not sure that this is much to do with "we can do it". Mathematics can prove that. But what better way to learn of your opponets defenses? If they do lauch, and some "eye in the sky" does pop, then they would know what to expect.
