White supremacist? I don't get that. I actually thought it was a clever take off on the term "Dead Head", as in those people that are/used to be into the Greatful Dead. I also imagined the Grim Reaper's head being removed (as in, by gullotine or scythe) and that head being you.

Are fiddle lessons different from violin lessons?
Oh, yes. It is the same instrument, with the same strings and bow and notes, and they share basic techniques in bowing and finger placement on the strings, but if I had to identify the greatest difference, it is the way the tunes are learned and played. Many classically trained violinists cannot play the "fiddle" well because they are too "precise" for lack of a better word, playing the music exactly as it appears on the page. Itzak Perlman is an exception, if you've ever heard any of his klesmer music. Fiddle music was/is played for dancing and has a certain oral tradition, being passed from one fiddler to another by ear, and one of the "rules" is that you never really play a tune the same way every time. The melody is the same, but the embellishments and rhythm and such are open to interpretation, and each fiddler brings his/her own style. I am learning to play Irish fiddle, which is different from Scottish fiddle, which is different from Breton fiddle, which is different from bluegrass and old-time fiddle, though they all share certain elements. There are even different styles of Irish fiddle, depending on the region of Ireland. I am learning to play by ear, which is something I never thought I would be able to do (violinists usually read music), and oh my, it is so much fun. Well, for me anyway. I am sure my practicing is wearing thin on everyone else in the house. But I reckon it gives them a reason to edc ear plugs.
Probably more than you wanted to know, huh? Sorry. :bolt:

Well, I don't know about that...the strings I use retail for about $70, but I buy them for about $34 online, and I have tons of CDs to buy and listen to...and the lessons aren't cheap...and...oh, heck, I quit trying to reason away this stuff ages ago. Life's too short. ;D

I don't know about all States, but they are legal here. I heard of a few members at Blade Forums reluctant about carrying them for fear of being called switchblades. I recommend not carrying them because any of them with a flipper can be opened nearly as fast without AO. Also, waved knives are faster than AOs and switchblades.
Just my 2 cents.

Last time I checked Arkansas had no State laws strictly pertaining to "switchblades". They have knife laws and I think different towns and cities can have their own laws but that would be a local law not a State law.
I own several but I do not carry them.
My personal favorite is a "Lefthanded" Itilian HoneyHorn made by Frank Belltrame it is the only lefty I have ever seen.
My best would be a Benchmade Mini-Reflex in an "electric blue kinda handle.

I actually broke TWO strings last Friday. And another this morning after having my lesson last night. Got all psyched up to practice this morning, opened the case, and it was already broken. The E string is the one that breaks most commonly. The others are pretty stable, but I've been playing a lot on that poor D string. But I did get a bunch of new gadgets recently. I just haven't had time to post pics yet. And then, I can combine gadgets with fiddle with TITANIUM strings! :D

Well, you have to do it the right way. Rent the first two--the first DVD is some special extended version, I think. Pop the Jiffy Pop and watch both of them, then get thee to the theatre. I think it really helps to understand the second one (and especially the last) if you know who Magneto is. The second one made so much more sense to me the SECOND time I saw it AFTER seeing the first one. Gave some insight into the characters and the conflict of plain ole humans vs. the extremely interesting mutants.

Wow, what a short page. Oh, page 3.
Yeah, maybe you're right. I should rent both. Well, to Blockbuster we go!

I was just thinking the same thing on my way out of the house after my last thread. I was explaining to my wife about the largest thread here that is just random stuff. I realized that it is a great thread to just chit-chat about anything. You're right, we are getting to know each other. It is a nice place to be when just want to be silly.

Super! We'll aim for the 9:00 show, and we're on the East Coast, so I'll just call the pilot and tell him to fire up the Concorde. Gives us four hours, no prob.
Wait, I think we sold that one--something about a safety issue.

scríbhneoir, how was the movie?* ;D
I loved it! Was great to see it on the BIG screen (it is also showing at an IMAX up the road). I laughed (they gave Wolverine the best lines). I cried (there was some sad stuff). It became a part of me. I won't give you any spoilers, but it is good. There were a couple of cliches I didn't like (I won't tell you--see if you find them), and a couple of things that were predicatable (sort of happens in all sequels, I think), and I'm not sure that I liked it as much as the first two (different directors and all), but for what it was/is and for its purpose, it was great and they--oops! Can't say anymore! :-X

Well, heck fire, I missed out on the beef and beer. :'( Did share a couple of Bass Ales with a friend Friday night. First time I used my new MINI PRYBABY!
Our daughters had their first piano recital, amazing little creatures! And then I caved and turned on the AC for the first time. Got my first mosquito bite of the season. And learned my first waltz on the fiddle, "Dark Island." One of my favorites. Now it's time for my first cup of coffee of the day. Wait a minute. I only have one a day...
Okay, first joke of the day:

I plan to buy a kydex sheath making kit. *It will be more for personal use, but it is quite a chunk of change. *It is going to cost me about $120 to get started.
Would anyone be interested on ordering simple keychain sheaths to help pay for it. *I would have to practice first, but I have read posts and I also watched Darrell Ralph's kydex sheath making DVD, and I think simple kydex sheaths will be a piece of cake. *It is the ones where you have belt clips and tek-locks that are much more complicated.
So I think many people could use simple kydex sheaths for neck chains and key chains for items like small multi-tools, small knives, Atwood tools, etc.
What do you guys think would be a good price for these simple sheaths? *And don't say free. ;D
DAMN!! Free was going to be my answer. Seeing as how I can't use that, I would pay around 8.00 - 15.00, depending on what item was sheathed, mini tabasco bottle, Arc-p, micra, etc.

Now, this is a thought. A mini lap pool. There's nothing that big out at the farm--well, there's a pond, but I don't swim with the fishies; I catch and eat them. I'm gonna see what the feed & supply store has or can order. I'll get a big 'ole round bale from which to jump off, too. :fishbone:
