Here is why we are having a raffle.

LifeNRA some time ago was diagnosed with cancer and has had some other medical problems as well.* The cancer had him in the hospital several times undergoing treatment.* While in the hospital recovering from a surgery, his employer laid him off.* This was quite awhile back.* Since that time he has continued to get sicker.* The treatment is not working and the doctors have told him he has 6 months to a year to live.* He also has a shoulder injury and was unable to get the prescription filled for a muscle relaxer and pain killer.* He got a denial letter from emergency Medicaid because his wife makes too much money at $10.00 an hour.* Jeff also has children that have been doing without because of the financial troubles that have occurred since being diagnosed with cancer.* Things have been falling apart around him because he cannot maintain them, the hot water heater is broken the house if falling apart and he cannot get his pain killers.* His wife is about to have a nervous breakdown trying to keep things afloat in a situation where she is not able to.* This raffle is to try and make it possible for Jeff to have pain medicine and make things easier on his wife and kids.*

How the Raffle is going to work:

The raffle tickets will be $10.00 each and the raffle will run for 10 days (Ends Monday May, 22, 2006).

The payment for the tickets will go to this Paypal address.*

lifenra@bellsouth.net

We will need to following information in the notes of the paypal.

1. YOUR EDC or CPF USERNAME
2. LifeNRA Benefit Raffle

Marcspar will collect this information and assign numbers to ticket purchasers as he gets the information.
The ticket numbers and usernames will be posted out here so you will know what your numbers are.

At the end of the Raffle, Greenled will use a random number generator for the range of ticket numbers purchased.* This will happen for each prize until all the prizes have been awarded.* A list of winners will them be posted and we will then ask for shipping information to be PM's or Emailed so we can ship out the prizes.

Prizes:

1.* From jonsidneyb
A Bwaits USL--- It is quite* amazing, not only can it cook eggs, it can start fires.* These lights are custom made by Bwaites

2.* Frorm Topper
A Cold Steel SRK new in box with a leather sheath.

3.* From Topper
Surefire G2Z-olive drab used but in great condition (I think) I do have the box and found a SF lanyard to put in not opened but black not green so I am unsure if it is the one that came with it. I will put new SF123’s in with it.

4.* From Topper
A PentagonLight PX2 Xenon with beltclip (like a cell phone or some McGizmo lights)
no box ( not really sure it had a box when I got it) very light use will put 2 123’s with it.

5.* From Malcontent
A new Atwood Micro Bug Out Bar, You can see one here. http://www.phlaunt.com/atwoodknives/10990403.php*
Also a black Mercop lanyard* *

6.* From Codeman
NIB un-used Leatherman Charge XTi w/leather holster
The holster has a small rub mark on the back that was there when I bought it.* Didn't know about it until I got home.* I haven't used it for anything at all, nor has it been carried.* Complete box with lanyard, clip, extra bits w/holder, and instructions.* *I'll cover USPS Priority mail w/Delivery Confirmation, or up to $10 towards international shipping.* If insurance is desired, the winner will need to cover the cost.

15.* From Metalhead
Kingmax 1GB Super Stick USB Flash Drive

16.* From Heathaw
NIClamshell Victorinox Climber and Rally combo with a small Chinese AAA flashlight

17. From* Heathaw

Thanks
Jon

Prize Picture area:

This is item number 1 in the raffle.* This is a creation of a Bwaites from CPF, on the outside it is a maglite, on the inside it is something else.* Codeman did a great job in his post in another section of this forum and I am stealing from that post to let those of you who are not aware of this light to understand what it is.

You have to look at this information.

Fire & Eggs (http://candlepowerforums.com/vb/showpost.php?p=926618&postcount=8)
Comparison Shots with high beam headlights, Thor 10MCP, and a Polaris 75W flood (http://candlepowerforums.com/vb/showpost.php?p=1105399&postcount=11)
Comparison with a stock 3D Mag (http://candlepowerforums.com/vb/showpost.php?p=1127280&postcount=91) (3rd picture down)
Comparison with Surefire E2e (http://candlepowerforums.com/vb/showpost.php?p=1283916&postcount=69)

For anyone who doesn't know about the USL, check out the field testing and review threads in the USL Thread Index (http://candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=94000) that I maintain over on CPF.* If you know your lumens, the USL uses a 3,500-4,000 lumen rated Osram bulb with well over 2,000 lumens out the front.* This is a 2D-sized light that looks pretty much like a stock Mag.* Well, that is, until you turn it on.

Here's a few pics I took of the prototype.* The cells used in the production models actually increased output slightly.

Hi all,
Thank you for your support. It means a great deal to my family and is more of a help than you will ever know. *

When you send in your Paypal payments please make sure to include your EDC or CPF name.
I will forward your email to Marcspar and he will assign the numbers to you. He will keep a list on this thread with your user name and # of tickets bought. *
Check this thread to make sure the number of tickets you paid for and what is listed matches up.
I probably will not be responding to your Paypal emails. I am on dial-up and keeping up with evrything else will be a chore for me, especially in my condition. I do read any notes that you care to put on your Payments. And I appreciate every word of encouragement.

Thank you all very much and God bless you,
Jeff *:) * *

:gimme: 3! *PayPal sent.

Jeff, I just wish we could give you something a bit more meaningful, like a cure.

I have a daily meditation book that has, on my birthday, a quote that I really like:

"All the darkness in the entire world is not enough to snuff out the light of one, tiny candle."

And I once read some gas station bathroom grafitti that has also help me:

"Knowledge without understanding is knowledge wasted.
Understanding without knowledge is a rare gift, but not an impossibility.
For the impossible is always possible through faith.

Strange place to find a real pearl of wisdom, huh?

Hold onto to hope, my fellow NRA'er!

Please, carry on. :)

Jeff, I don't know what to say except that I am sorry for the person that sent you the email. They must feel real good about themselves! People give because they care, so don't let one person get you down about their feelings.. I don't use Paypal, but if you email an address I will send you something and want nothing in return..

All the best!

I wanted to let everyone know that I broke my ankle today. I am not telling you all to gather sympathy, I just know that there are a lot of people who care about my health and I figured you would want to know. I tripped over a toy and the next thing I know my left foot is facing outward at 90 degrees. They gave me some good pain medicine and I am feeling good right now. I know it will not feel as good tomorrow and I dread wearing this cast. But don't worry, I will be OK in a few weeks. When it rains it pours right? :stretcher: :)

I just noticed the photo of the G2Z showing the P60 lamp beside it.
That is a spare lamp folks that I tossed in, the G2Z has a lamp in it (most likely a P60 but I did not check so it could be a P61)
it also has cells in it as does the Pentagon light (just thought you might want to know)

OK, here's a little addition to the prize list from FlashlightNews.org (http://flashlightnews.org).

Kingmax 1GB Super Stick USB Flash Drive (http://www.kingmaxdigi.com/product/superstick.htm)

http://flashlightnews.org/images/Kingmax1GB.jpg

I'll try to dig my camera out of it's box (did that), and add some better pictures of the thing...it's tiny. (Obviously 'better pictures' is relative. I'm a poor photog.)

34mm(W) x 12.4mm(L) x 2.2mm(T) That's 1.33 x 0.49 x 0.087 inches...did I mention it's tiny? :police:

Definitely something you can carry without really thinking about it. Definitely EDC-able.

PP sent for 2 tickets.* * O0

And Jon, I've got a couple more items I would like to add for prizes if that is ok.*

I wasn't sure if you wanted these shipped to you so you could ship them out or if you wanted each of us to ship them separately.*
Anyways, since I'm late (as always) I'll ship these two out Tuesday morning via USPS Priority Mail Insured w/ Delivery Confirmation to the winners if you will get me their email and shipping addresses once they are drawn.* *:)

I'm not going to have time to take pictures and post them this weekend due to graduations I have to attend so I will just "borrow" some from each of their respective websites.* ;D

For the first prize, I'd like to offer a NIClamshell Victorinox Climber and Rally combo with a small Chinese AAA flashlight (see here (http://www.lighthound.com/sales/keychain_flashlights.htm) for further information).

Climber

Rally

AAA Flashlight
http://www.lighthound.com/images/china/ChineseAAA.jpg

For the second prize, I'd like to offer a brand spankin' new Arc AAA-P flashlight.* Never been used and still in the original package.

Arc AAA-P

If there are any problems with or questions about these prizes, please let me know.* I will probably be away from my computer most of Saturday and some of Sunday so be patient if you need to contact me.* I will try to answer any questions by Sunday night.

Again, sorry for being late.* Hopefully, these may stimulate some others to join the raffle if they haven't done so.* And maybe others will purchase more tickets.* *;D*

LifeNRA, the money contributed here may not help you and your family enough but I would just like you to know that you have my prayers as well.

The 2C Maglite for the raffle is black in color.

The winner can choose between an older model with a serial number beginning with "2" or a newer model with the serial number beginning with a "C". I think there is a difference in barrel diameter if it is to be used for modding. The SMJ-PR LED can be used in any 2 cell light using a PR based bulb so it will work with either one. They are new in the package, totally unmolested.

Thank you all for your support, donations, and prayers. I would declare this raffle a huge success and it will further help me and my family keep our heads above water. I am very humbled by all the support we continue to receive and I know that we are very blessed.
I have a new round of chemo and radiation treatments coming up in about a week. This new round will be at very dangerous levels so I will need as much prayer support as I can get. The upside to the treatment is of course is survival. The downside is that it could kill me or leave me with serious side effects. I have been working out as best I could and dieting to try to get ready for it. I was afraid that my broken ankle would push the treatment back but the Dr's have cleared me to go ahead. We must get it started soon or it will not make any difference.
I have left instructions for my wife to post on CPF if anything bad happens. So if you do not hear from me for a while after next week do not be alarmed. No news may be good news. * :) *
I have sent all the Paypal invoices to Marc so if you do not see your name on the above list don't worry it will be there.
Thank you all again and God bless,
Jeff *

PMs sent for addresses. I was out all weekend so didn't get to see how the raffle ended and didn't even think of it today until i noticed the notice during lunch. Silly me, i was trying to remember what item John could be referring to by "flamethrower" and failing miserably. (smirk) I perked right up when i saw my name on the list though and it clicked into place, of course. Yay for me, but really, i'm glad to see that things picked up over the weekend. It's nothing short of impressive how well we did with the donations, especially considering many already contributed, some giving time, which is often more precious than money or items.
