i got some split rings made for fishing since they seem to be made of better stuff than regular ones that bend. while i was there, i noticed everything, including stuff im pretty sure doesn't contain lead, says that it contains lead. is there some requirement in california where anything related to fishing has to have a warning about lead or is there really lead in there? i don't see how lead would help a split ring be strong. thanks for your help in advance

I think all fishing equipment says that. And you're right, it's probably a CA thing...

so does it really mean lead is in there? or just as a precaution as lead products are probably made in the same factory?

No lead, methinks. I believe that your assumption is correct.
