Zulu Watch Bands??? [Archive]

Anybody have experience with Maratac "Zulu Extreme" watchbands?

Do you really NEED 4 buckles or are 2 enough?
Will the "Low Lite" finish last, or should I go with the brushed steel?

This is the style I'm thinking about... just not sure yet :-\ :confused: :-\

I own a couple. I have both a four buckle and two buckle and prefer the two buckle. The four buckle seems to busy for me, unless you are using it over a wetsuit alot. They are great as far as being able to switch out the band quickly and are very durable. My wife also has one on her Luminox and prefers it to the factory rubber band. I have both finishes and they both are holding up well. Anyway I will say they are the best nylon band I have come across. O0 Try Countycomm.com if you haven't already. Hope this helps. :)

I have a 2 ring Zulu on my Luminox. I think it looks better and it is easier to live with. I hope this info helps.

I prefer the two buckle, but they don't make it long enough -- I have a very large wrist, so I had to get the giant 17 incher with the four buckles, but I don't really like it as well

These straps are as close to a 'textile steel' as i have found (particularly in grey). Also check out the 'Rhino' brand for the same look (in fact they came out before the Zulus)... fantastic build quality.

I've got both the 2 and 4 buckle versions.* So far, the 2 buckle is working great.* The watch isn't slding around any.* I doubt I'll use the 4 buckle version.* On my wrist, the buckles end up being on each side of my wrist, which I don't care for.* It didn't look "clean" and I was constantly banging into things.

I wish the low-profile finished buckles were available on the 2 buckle version when I bought mine.

The band arrived today! :dance:
Now that I have one, I can say for sure that a 4 ring band would have indeed been too much hardware.

BTW - the Zulu's will stretch a bit at first, but once it's "settled in", you get a nice fit.

Does anyone know what size I should go with for a Luminox? I have a first-run SEAL Dive Watch, Series 3000. I'm having trouble finding a spec for the band size on the luminox website. Anyone know? Thanks in advance.

Why not just measure it? If the current band is 20mm at the pins, then that's the size to get. In other words, Zulu's bands are measured based on the width of the pin "posts".

I checked with Providence Watch Hospital, one of the only Luminox authorized service centers, and the lug width for the SEALs watches is 20mm, apparently almost every other Luminox is 22mm lug width. weird.....I'll be ordering one soon, as soon as i decide whether i should get 2 buckle or 4 buckle....probably 2 buckle....or 4 buckle....or maybe both! :)

I would go with the 2 buckle unless you have very large wrists. The 4 buckle is just way to much hardware for most. If you will do some serious diving and you really fear losing your watch, then go with the 4 buckle. But for everyday wear, I highly recommend the 2 buckle. You won't regret it.

I have a subdued 4 buckle and its kind of busy but I like that look. The Zulu is going to last a long time-best non-metal band IMO.

Do the Zulu bands work well on the G-Shock watches?

I've got a blue G that's going to need a new band before too long. It sees all the ugly work.

Well, DH...I'm an idiot..I my strap came in...and it doesn't appear to be quite right...I think it should indeed be 22mm. I ordered a 20mm at the instruction of a very nice lady at a Luminox service center. I guess I may just have to get another one.... >:(
