I recieved my Swiss Tool Spirit S today from Tim. I've always prefered Leatherman Multitools, but this one may just find it's way to the top of the EDC pile. Fit and finish is typical for Victorinox: Perfect. I'll carry it a few days and give a little more indepth review.

:police: Initial impressions:

(+)
1. perfect fit and finish
2. I'm familiar with the tools, being a SAK freak
3. No scissors (a real plus for me in a multi)
4. I love the thicker Bottle opener/screwdriver
5. the chisel/scraper/stripper tool ROCKS!
6. brown leather sheath is handsome
7. very elegant looking tool

(-)
1. Blades are VERY hard to open for a nail-biter
2. awl is not pointy, nor is it very sharp
3. handles seem slick (this my not be a problem)
4. velcro tab on sheath kinda sucks
5. both sides of the file are the same "grit"

The pliers are very comfortable. I've only used them for light tasks, so far, though.

I finally ordered one and I love it. I usually don't edc a multi-tool, but I will this one. The leather sheath is top quality too! What else could you expect from Victroinox??? ;D

Grip tape works wonders for slippery knives and tools. I stuck some on my Leaterman, Kershaw Scallion, Schrade/Vicegrips, etc, works great/

I don't have a Victorinox MT but I do have the Swiss Champ and the thing I like about their tools is that they have rounded edges whereas the LM's tools have quite sharp corners. The round edges seems to improve the fit when the bit is a little too large or too small for the screw in question. On the downside the scissors on my Swiss Champ gave up the ghost recently after 8-10 years of good service when the little spring snapped at the stress point. I think it can be replaced though. I have a feeling the Leatherman scissors (Wave II) will last longer due to their superior design. I don't know about you guys but I use the scissors a LOT on my MT's.

you can replace the spring in them, they give out from fatigue, happens to all vics...
you can order them from victorinox. www.swissarmy.com
