Very nice collection indeed. Could you say a bit about the Vibration Alarm G please? How does it sit on the wrist? How effective is the alarm? Any other impressions? I already have a couple of DW5600s and really rate them, but I've often though about getting the vibration model G too.

Oh, one other question :) -- can you have it ring the alarm tone AND vibrate at the same time?

Thanks,

Sunnie

The vibration alarm is different. The first couple of times you use it, it kind of scares the you know what out of ya. Its very effective in noisy situations where you would miss the beep. I find it easy to wake up to. Where I would normally not hear the beep, the vibration feels strange and wakes me up.

Nope, you cant have both at once.

I only have 1 G Shock, a blue G-200 digi-analog.
I've been wearing a Casio Edifice to work for 2 years. It's dinged, dented, and scarred, but has yet to miss a beat. O0
I picked up an analog Forester today. This one will be my "away from work beater/woods watch. Nice watch for $20. O0

Interesting. I've always wanted one but could nver find one that isn't huge. I wish they would make a model that's slim, trim, and clean...

You might try the DW-5600...its actually about the size of your "average" watch.

The dw-5600 is my favorite watch. it's such a classic. i hear it's one of the few approved for use in space by nasa.

Yeah, I once found an article from an equipment manager at nasa. As I recall, approved watches are the G-Shock 5600 and 6900, one model of the Timex Ironman (some data link model) and an Omega...Speedmaster I think.

Yeah, sorry. I rearranged my album and cleaned it up some...never thought what it would do to pics I had on display.

Which one is the DW-5600? Is that the original G-Shock with the square face? Love that design!

Yes the DW-5600E is the current version. There have been a few small changes over the years, but the looks remain the same and still as durable as ever.

The GW5600 is solar powered and receives atomic time radio singles for only $30 bucks more. Its the next watch I buy, as soon as I sell off a Citizen and Seiko automatic. (Look for them on BST soon)

Those Mudmans are pretty neat...but I'm done buying watches for now. ;)

Here's a GW5600:

I agree the DW/GW 5600 is an awesome size for a G-Shock, and has classic roots in the line. I reserve that for my camping/outdoor/riding/hard working watch. Usually now I wear my MTG-910DA on work days, when I go digital:

Here's a GW5600:

Love that! It has the classic look, but somehow more modernised. The matt black is really sleek.

I agree Casio seems weird in the US regarding where models are sold in brick-and-mortar shops, and when they cycle out older models and bring in new ones. Near me there's a Big 5 that sells only a couple G-Shocks at a time, and never the ones I want. The much better bet is a local JC Penney which has a pretty good selection! But if you're trying to buy a non-US (or non-local to you) model then you'd better start surfing the web.
