Here's a picture of my current "local area" EDC:
http://www.brilliantmedia.com/psk/snpocketedc042006.jpg
That's a Swatch "skin" watch; a Ghurka "Slim Business Card Case" used as a wallet, and a Victorinox Rambler on the keychain with the Photon II type light and a Craftsman screwdriver thing (which I think I'll probably ditch as redundant one of these days). The phone is a Treo 650 with a protective cover.
I try to carry the most minimalist version of everything I need (thus the slim watch, very thin wallet, minimal keychain; the Treo takes the place of a laptop in addition to phone most of the time, so it's actually as small as I can reasonably get as a device for realistic eMail and web surfing).
I also break all of my kits into modules as much as possible, aiming for the most minimal size or volume that retains acceptable function for each category. I have a car key and other keys as separate "modules" to add to my pocket when I drive; and other modules for work, traveling into the city via ferry boat, etc. I'll post more pics another day of a PSK, FAK and PIC (personal info kit), along with their submodules, and will also post a basic EDC for backpacking and snowshoeing.
